Sooooo yeahhhh…on the highway and a large pc of rubber ( I assume ) flew out of the back of a work truck. It hit my front end and went under the car. I had a split second to react but I was boxed in and had no choice but to take the hit. Sucks…got an estimate to repair/replace and it’s 1000 bucks. Luckily I have comprehensive so no cost to me but they can’t work on it until early Sept. Blows. I just hope they can match the paint. A motorcycle was tailgating me and almost lost control when he ran it over. We both pulled over and he was shakin up pretty bad. No fun hitting something going 80 on a bike. Almost had the same thing happen two days ago with a piece of metal flying off a flatbed. And that is the reason I don’t ride a motorcycle anymore…especially in NJ.

Sucks bigly, and this exact situation happened to me in 2013 from a piece of rubber on the interstate.

Good news is though the damage is not as bad as it could have been, and any shop worth their salt can match this paint just fine. (even if the oem touch up paint is not a perfect match  )

Ugh that sucks. But you're right definitely could have been worse. A good body shop should easily be able to get that to be perfect.

A year or two ago on a highway some bricks or cinder blocks flew off a truck nearly right in front of me in my WRX and I swerved to avoid everything. Barely missed the hits. Called the cops immediately after and hoped no one slammed into the debris right after. I was definitely lucky that day.

yep that sucks.... just got my car back a few weeks ago after hitting a truck tire... about 7k$ for repairs for my insurance... 500$ deductible..

Touchup.

Many years ago when I was in school, was bringing the bike home to put into storage. I'm on the interstate in the far inside lane. I glance over to the right and there's a wheel passing me up at ~65 mph.

Another time i'm on a different interstate. A rake is poorly secured on a landscape truck and goes airborne! Right over my head!!!

Finally, some where in the middle of nowhere WI, coming around a blind right hander at speed. As I'm just at the exit, there's a COW!!!! in the middle of the lane.

Few miles down the road I see another cow. Apparently someone left the gate open. Had time to pull over, remove gloves and grab camera.

These days I try to keep a good following distance so I can react accordingly.

One more from last year. Deer decides to cross a 4 lane divided highway just as I'm making a lane change.

Now *that* could of been much worse..... Actually the cow incident would be worse...

This evening, as we passed a copse of trees, several black, white-faced cows started to cross the road in my rearview mirror: on that highway the warning signs alert drivers to watch out for free ranging cattle; nearly every time I drive that highway I see cows standing on the road or moving across it.

So I received a call that the repair on my Stinger was complete but they're having a hard time calibrating the front sensor. The body shop brought in a 3rd party to try and calibrate it but they couldn't do it so the car is being scheduled to be brought to the dealer:poop:. It could be some time before the dealer can take it so my question is, can they just disable the front sensor so I can take the car back until the dealer is ready for it? I'd rather be in possession of the car than let it sit at the body shop for a couple weeks. Can't believe how much I miss my car. My wife actually misses it too. I'm driving a beat up Elantra rental and that leaves A LOT to be desired. Buzzkill......

What sensor? The radar cruise control one? Yeah if you don't don't want to use radar cruise control and if it's not throwing a code then just drive without radar cruise control. Now if it's messing with the emergency brake system then it's best to unplug it. You can drive with it unplugged (ask how I know) but don't unplug the front harness as that will mess up your car. Like rpms not working and a bunch of other stuff. Ask me how I know lol

Ok cool thanks Vodka. Yeah I think it's the front sensor in the middle of the grill. I assume its for the cruise control, lane keep assist and collision warning all of which I never use/need. Ill see if they can just unplug it til I can get it to the dealer. Thanks again!

You will still most likely have lane assist because it uses the camera by the mirror and not the radar unit.

Correct, SCC and EAB use the behind grille radar sensor. LKA/LKW uses cameras, and the ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers are for the close proximity alert.

The Kia OEM paint should be easily available to any competent body shop.
