Hello,

I recently purchased a 2019 GT2. The front collision system stopped working, code p0597 and p0335. The first code was for thermostat heater control. The second one was for the crankshaft sensor. The car had no run ability issues or starting issues. The other day it would not crank. Had it towed to a shop. Finally after a week and a half they looked at it. They first said the engine was seized as it would not turn over by hand. I asked them to look at it more. The where able to rotate the engine backwards then back forwards and heard a scraping noise. They pushed it into the shop. Upon rasing the car on the lift the technician found holes in the transmission bell housing. The crank position trigger wheel had damage. Anyone heard of this issue and what was the cause??

Welcome! And congratulations on your new Stinger. Just noting that I’m moving this topic out of the community lounge and into the Stinger brakes forum.

Thank you for the picture. It looks like it does read off the back of the crank. So what ever broke the bell housing on the transmission definitely could of broken that sensor! Guess it’s time to take the transmission out.

The sensor is just a static bolt on part but agree there should be a toothed wheel for it to read from. The damage to the bell housing presumably is on the bottom? Landed on a rock? Bits went inside and did some damage?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Bits went inside and did some damage to a tooth maybe so the sensor can no longer read it. That would explain why you could not start

The front collision system isn't code code p0597 and p0335. They are coolant thermostat and crank angle sensor which you identified. If the collision system is not working it sounds like the car was damaged.

You said there are four holes in the Bell Housing so bits probably went inside and damaged the crank position sensor wheel.

All seems fixable. A reminder that ANY used car is changed out for a reason and almost never because there is nothing wrong with it. It's a game.

The seller hides as much as possible and the buyer has to find it.
