Awesome, so you may still be able to get the GB deal even after some have already shipped? How long will they honor that pricing? I’m very tempted but want to see if new pads will be good enough before I spend more $ on rotors too. I should know this weekend and will let you know ASAP.

Please reed I did post that they are different look at post #110.

Also please see pictures I’m just giving the prices they give me.

Yes you stated different coating not different rotors. Read what I said:

I was shipped:
High Carbon Front Sport Series Geomet
Street Series Rear Silver

Sport fronts Street Rears. The Rears showed up FedEx Lost the Fronts. Houston has a case open with them on this.

@MrSmoofy did you ask Houston about the differences between the disks we got and the ones from the upcoming group buy?

Yes he said the metal is different from street to sport and the latest group buy the come pre-painted on the centers black which I was going to do anyways.

@NYdito mentioned in an earlier thread before about the difference in coating that would be shipped with the earlier GB, but it would look similar. At that time he asked if anyone had any concerns..........looks like you missed that.

Sounds like your pissed because you got a lower price than what was quoted?

@NYdito is just helping out and trying to arrange the GB and IMHO is getting grief unnecessarily.

Again read what I said it was more then just getting different finishes which yes he said we would I got sent different rotors street for the rear and sport for the front, doesn't matter really at this point fronts were lost by FedEx so now I'm sending the rears back and Houston is going to sell me the Premium Sport Series Rotors Dimpled and Slotted just with silver coating not geomet since he doesn't have any of those. Hopefully, FedEx won't lose these.

The surface doesn't matter the pads will remove it anyways it was more that the type didn't match is what annoyed me.

Rears require some...."massaging" to remove, make sure the parking brake is released, grab a rubber mallet and start going around hitting it from the back, you'll notice it'll start to become loose, then you'll be able to remove it by hand.

Looking forward to installing mine. Just need to make sure I have the time to properly bed the brake pads

Cquence Premium High-Carbon Phantom rotors arrived, fronts installed nice and easy with Posi-Quiet pads.

Can't get the rear rotors off, will post pics if I ever figure out how to release ebrake.

Turn the car back on and you should be able to release the E brake. I had the same issue.

Rears installed finally but it wasn't easy. After confirming the e-brake was indeed off it took going around the rotor multiple times tapping it loose bit by bit. The e-brake pads are pretty big and are really close on almost all the inside surface area so there is absolutely no play. Whereas the front just fall off, the rears take a bit more finesse to dislodge. To anyone attempting the rears take your time and just go around the rotor a bunch of times, it'll eventually fall off.

I’ve had plenty of experience with 2nd gen explorers with this type of setup, so it’s not too out of the ordinary for me. Glad you got it done

They look real good how are you liking them?

Love them so far. After bedding they stop equally as well as stock. Hopefully avoid the whole warped rotor issue and get some extra life out of these due to the upgraded G3500 cast iron.

A++ on looks. For me it was cosmetic to complete the Brembo setup. Why have a flashy lipstick red caliper and plain jane rotors? Now it looks like a complete package.

I am having mine installed tomorrow and would be happy to donate them. You can PM me the details if you still need them.

Just as an update from Carbotech:
We did get them [the pads from Luminary]. They are similar and close to the D1001 pad shape that so many are selling for the car, but different enough that we are going to laser cut the pad shape so that is a perfect match.

Our CT1001 pads will likely work for the track and autox but we don't want to user [sic] that shape for the street. The small, subtle differences could lead to noises and problems and we want to avoid them.

Anyone who wants to order the front pads for the track or autox can but if they want a street compound it will be a few weeks before we have anything. No part number or pricing yet, there are no listings for it. We will make up a part number and figure out the pricing once we get the backing plates form our laser cutter. I would venture a guess the 1521 street compound will be in the $200 range.

Any word on the rear pads? We have not seen any of those form anyone just yet.

-----------------

So - anyone have rear pads they're willing to donate?
