Continental buyers, Beware!

Yup, bye-bye transfer case.
But realistically, how likely is this to happen, and how long does it take if it does happen? Isn't KIA simply being extra conservative, so that if a transfer case does fail they have an "out"? Who has even heard of a transfer case on a Stinger going out thus far? Ima sure it has occurred, but on the forum, does anybody know of one failing? And what were the tires being used?

There's a lot of tolerance/discrepancy baked into the AWD design because of the likely faster tire wear rate in the rear on a staggered setup (although my lead foot isn't apparently of the same weight as some, as I'm not seeing the kind of "half the life" discrepancy some have observed). Kia has to assume as has been pointed out that things will always be a bit off, especially as the tires reach their approximate half-life.

Well, it would probably throw a code before failing. Still a pretty :poop: situation with the TC.

I see Genesis has started having bespoke "OEM" tires made for its cars. They are marked GOE. I think this is something every manufacturer who uses staggered setups should do. However, I'm guessing Kia only uses them on the Stinger.

I wonder why the Stingers staggered tyre set up is so much worse on wear than other similar cars? I run two Mustangs now and after 3 years the new one required rear tyres. I drive it the same as the Stinger, i got 38,000 km (PS4S) compared in the 6 years of Stinger ownership of 23 000km (Continental), 15,000 (Potenzas), 28,000 (Ps4)

Are your mustangs AWD?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
No they are not... but anyway i got 16000km's out of my Michelin PS4s hahahahahahohohoho wooo gee

No need for AWD here hence Mustang and Stinger AWD never sold here. If you want to go to the snowfields of NSW and Victoria buy an SUV.

We are California on steroids.

Naked women and beaches everywhere

Interesting that it only takes a 1% difference in tire circumference to cause the issue.
That is pretty standard.

During my investigation with AWD and getting aftermarket rims/tires for my Stinger, just about all manufacturers require a less-than 1% difference in height between front/rear.
