Concerns - Popping/Creaking Noise from Sunroof

I have an April 18 build date as well. I haven't heard any odd things with the sunroof as of yet but then again I picked mine up beginning of November. I'm at 2100 km. It could be mine hasn't happened yet and may happen after a bit more mileage .

Yes I got my GT1 in July and now have over 8000 miles on it. Just started hearing it beginning December

Yikes, that is very unfortunate. Do you plan on bringing it in to get looked at or is there no fix by kia as of yet?

It’s intermittent, seems to come and go based on temperature, unlikely the dealer would put any real time to diagnose. Will wait to see if it really becomes bothersome.

FWIW, on my GT2, the pop/squeak is the dome light. I haven't taken the time to pull it apart yet though.

I have tried silicone, shin etsu grease and the problem still persists. Today I grabbed the felt tape I used for the door creaks and started applying it everywhere. I have finally found the culprit. My issue is the upper seal at the front of the sunroof. When I put felt tape there the creaks went away completely. Now to think of a solution cause I'm not leaving it looking like this.

I've had this issue since the day I got my GT2, completely intermittent and incredibly annoying.

At first I thought it was related to getting a tint on my sunroof. But I took the tint off and proved that wasn't it . Some days it isn't there and I forget all about it, other days it sounds like the sunroof is coming apart.

I feel like it is more related to direct sunlight as opposed to temperature, but I don't know. Hard to troubleshoot something that is very random.

Side note, also get a single loud creak from the rear hatch glass if I go over a speed bump at an angle, this happens at <5mph basically every time

There is an issue with the frame of the sunroof , mine is being replaced , Kia knows about it BUT you need to direct your concern to KIA USA , the dealers will not be able to do anything unless approved / directed by corporate

try opening your sunroof and see if it stops

Hello. My Stinger 2.0 Premium has got 2500 miles on it, and its sunroof makes creaking noise louder and louder from day 1. I expected that the noise would be gone eventually, but turns out I was wrong.

I tried putting some velcro strips and spraying WD-40 which did not help at all. I went to the dealership today and mechanics there confirmed that my Stinger's sunroof was making excessive noise but were unable to fix it today.

They told me to bring my car in next Monday as saying that they have to open the entire ceiling panel and check it. I was wondering if anyone is experiencing the same issue.

Same here. They are replacing the rails the sun roof moves along as its not sitting flush causing excessive frictional/rubbing noises when the car moves.

MAKE SURE YOU MAKE KIA USA AWARE !!! , your dealer needs their direction to enact the frame replacement !!

You contacted KIA directly? Most of my concerns raised to the dealer has generally been ignored or they said its a "new vehicle" and they aren't aware of the issues.

Yes go to the Kia Canada website and call the 1800 # for Customer Service , they are well aware of my complaint so be firm and ask them to open a case file ..................North Shore Kia have ordered a new sunroof frame for me and KIA knows all about it !!

Really glad I found this thread. My Stinger has the same issue, it's a very metallic sound / echo that happens when there are heavy rain drops. Guess I will call KIA Canada.

The 1800 # requires waiting on line for a live response so be prepared for a wait , the person I dealt with was Joe , ask for him he knows about the sunroof issue . Be firm and make sure they open a case file for you , that will get action from the dealer

My # is no help to you , just make your case , I got a call today saying my new sunroof frame has arrived at the dealer
