Not sure if there's a similar thread already dedicated to something like this, but since I didn't see any I would like for this thread to be used to discuss what color combinations (interior/exterior) will be coming to your local dealership or other dealerships you've contacted.

Feel free to post the name of the dealer and location if you would like as I know some people would be willing to travel for a color combination they like so that they can get it as early as possible.

My local dealership here in Des Moines contacted me several days ago saying that they plan on receiving 6 Stingers (I only asked for the colors of the 3.3's and there are 3) between December 15-20th with the color combos being as follows:

1). Blue GT AWD with black interior
2). Black GT1 AWD with black interior
3). Red GT2 AWD with black interior

All of these vehicles are fully loaded and are MSRP + the additional packages (Kia Drive wise, etc.). I was told they plan on getting an additional Black Stinger with red interior at a later date, but won't receive additional Stingers until the rest are sold.

Made contact with my local dealer after a dealer in Illinois told me that they are able to take select custom orders with a deposit and said my local dealer should be able to do the same.

We discussed it at length and the salesman I was speaking to reached out to his manager and the person who dictates what Stingers go where (I forgot the title.. District something) and was essentially told they can only build what is available online currently and that is likely going to be all that will be able to be build for the US. So those who want red interior on other exterior colors like myself appear to be out of luck unless we can bring them down from Canada or demand for the other color combos is listened to.

Darn, that is not encouraging.......

For now. The initial manufacturing run was limited to these color combination. However, there won't be just one manufacturing run. I'm sure they've already started another run, if not already completed. I was told that initially, if you wanted the first one in your area, yes, you are color combination limited. However, if you were willing to wait a couple of weeks longer, you could order the color combination that is available in the "build your Stinger" section of the website. I was told mid December is when they should start getting to the dealerships and that mine, Ceramic Silver with red Nappa interior should be here by the end of the year.

I'm hoping you're right and the dealer and his contacts are wrong, but it's not looking very good based off of what has been said and the the unlikeliness Kia would limit the builder to what is available in the initial shipment.. Just doesn't make much sense as they should want to show off everything that will be available rather than update their builder with each shipment.

I'm with @Taimaishoo on this. It certainly makes sense that they can only get what's been built so far - which is more or less what the district whateveryoucallit said - in not the same words. "built so far" - That's what he SHOULD have said - but they don't want you to wait and buy the car you really want. They want you to buy the car they want to sell you - NOW. Don't worry. The Kia Stinger is going to come in all different color combinations just like everything else does.

I want to believe this, but it doesn't really make sense to not at least have the build loaded with what we'll actually get as that is the point of building. That way they can order what you want. I feel like there is a lot of hopeful thinking going on. Unless someone actually has heard something from someone higher up that directly refutes what this district person said.

Then why am I able to order a Ceramic Silver with red Nappa leather interior when its not available in the initial roll out?

They release the initial run, with color and combinations that they believe will be the best because they have to get the car out so the public can see it. They don't go buy surveys, they go by previous sales. Region A mostly purchase blue with black interior. Region B mostly purchased red with black interior, etc. I would think that they expect most if not all, to sell to buyers that are just wanting to get the car. Impulse buyers, kinda, or buyers that don't know what they really want and say, "Oooh! Sharp car, it's already on the lot, yeah, I'll take it!" My dealership informed me that around Dec 15th is when they will start getting in a select few and I will be first on their list to call to see if I want the "pick of the litter" so to say. I've already told them that no, I will wait for mine but I will enjoy looking over the ones they do get in.

I think you and I are agreeing. I do believe that everything that is offered on the website will eventually come here. What it seems @Kia Stinger is saying is that there will be more beyond what's currently offered in the build a Stinger options and I don't think that's going to be the case. Otherwise, they could show everything that will be available in the future. Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I thought that's what he was saying.

Can I get your dealers info to confirm this? I've reached to dealers outside of my region all the way to Georgia and have been told similar things in regards to what my dealer said (I live in the Midwest). Essentially if my dealer is correct they're only able to custom order what is able to be built on the Kia website which IMO doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

The image below screen printed from the stinger build page is the only reason I am holding out hope that Sunset Yellow will be coming....even though it is not currently an option:

What I'm saying, and I may not have elaborated well in my original post, is that Kia will eventually offer all available color combinations that they develop for sale/purchase here in the U.S. Some may not be available now because certain colors and combinations initially take priority - but they will. Does that make better sense? If not, I'm guilty of trying to do too many things at once. :o

That makes sense. That's what I thought you were saying. That's what I'm not so sure of. Like someone said earlier, why not go ahead build out the build page with everything so people can at least put their order in and just let them wait? It's better than them thinking that this is all that will be offered and going and buying another car instead. I guess we shall see though. I REALLY hope that you're right and I'm wrong. I think the de-contenting they did will make it much more difficult for them to offer all the options here.

Yeah, it can definitely go either way. I'm just thinking it makes more business sense to - when all is said and done - offer everything people want "better late than never" - than not at all. Time will tell. Hopefully I'm right! :p

Alright so the bad news has been confirmed.

I called corporate today to see if what my dealer said was true regarding the color combinations that will be available to the US and unfortunately they confirmed it. I was told that what you can build online is what the US is getting and there are no plans to expand upon it. I did file a case order/complaint and detailed that it didn't make much sense to have these colors available in other countries, but not to us when they're all being shipped from the same place.

I made it a point that many potential customers are holding off from purchasing the Stinger until the color combination they want is made available to them and for a lot of people their understanding is that only the initial shipment is limited to such few color combos and later shipments will have more variety and when they find out that's not the case they will be put off and very possibly not purchase the vehicle.

I would definitely suggest if you want a color combination that you're not able to build online, but is available to other countries such as Canada and Australia is to call the corporate number and open up a case order with your complaint otherwise you it's very unlikely anything will be done and you'll either have to settle for a different color, purchase one from Canada and bring it over the border, or not get the car.

I was also told that Kia doesn't do custom orders directly through corporate unfortunately. If you guys have any questions over what was said on the phone go ahead and ask away. I plan on updating the thread with what I hear back from corporate as I'm supposed to have someone contacting me.

What you're saying is what I suspected. It would make no sense for the build page to not have all the options from the jump. They're not going to randomly start giving us more options later on because it's a new production run. If they were doing it based on production runs, then we would only have an option of the Red with black interior for the GT2 as that's all that's been being built for the US thus far as evidenced by that being the only GT2s being for sale. Another let down from Kia, ha.

Well the ghost grey ceramic color for the GT2 also has the red interior on the build page, but I think that's the only color available if I'm remembering correctly so if you wanted that color with black interior you would be out of luck.

I was told that they've received a number of inquiries regarding several colors availability; the person I spoke to cited orange or yellow to which I asked if it was sunset yellow and she said that was one of them. So I'm glad other people are making Kia US aware that we are interested in other colors. I'm sure there's been a number of people that have complained about the lack of chroma blue as I remember that was an issue brought up a lot in the past.
