cold start knock in my GT2, no support

Hey, my '18 GT2 (19k miles) has developed a loud cold start knock, lasts about 15-20 seconds, then drifts away. My dealer recorded the cold start, sent to Kia and they said it's perfectly normal for that car. The service manager told me he didn't agree but there's nothing he can do. Any advice? appreciated....

You can only try a different dealer; get opinions. Try an independent mechanic outfit if you have one you trust. Several opinions is how you can "triangulate" on a potential diagnosis. Meanwhile, as long as your engine runs smoothly after turning over for a little bit, there shouldn't be anything actually wrong with running the car.

I have some knock on the cold start as well. Goes away in 20-30 sec. I belive it is a hpfp. But not 100% sure.

So, if the fuel pump doesn't throw a code, Kia does nothing?

Its been discussed in depth before, its perfectly normal, all stingers do that, its not an issue its the hpfp.

It's the hpfp as mentioned. It's normal when cold.

My Stinger has done it from new. Pretty sure its's normal as per previous remarks.

Never noticed this. My intakes are to loud to tell but i distinctly remember a loud click clack from the top end of the engine on every start.

Normal!!! Take some time and do some reading, you will find your answers! This particular question has been beaten like a dead horse.

I don't disagree with the HPFP but I think some of it is slight piston slap too. Which is NORMAL..!. These motors are all forged, there are engineering specifications that HAVE to be accounted for when you have a high boost motor. Rings have to be undersized with a gap for expansion once the motor warms up. This causes a slight rattle, the same gap has to be built into a motor that's running Nitrous. If it's not there, you will hurt that engine. KIA is right, your dealer rep is wrong.

Yup normal in my books too, had it since new. It sounds nasty but its normal.
