• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Hi,

I have a 2017 Kia Stinger GT fitted with Shockworks Coilovers. I don't have the old suspension gear unfortunately.

I love the ride of the coilovers - not too harsh, virtually no body roll and height adjustability.

I am waiting delivery on a new 2021 Stinger GT and am considering swapping over the coilovers to the new 2021 Stinger.

Anyone know if the 2021 suspension gear will be able to retro fitted to the 2017 model? Any issues with electronics/drive modes?

Thanks

i dont think anyone is going to know this, it SHOULD be fine but i think you are just going to have to get a suspension shop to have a look at both and let you know.

If they are both the same engine, drive, and trim (ie 2017 AWD GT2 to 2021 AWD GT2) you should be fine. But if you’re going GT to GT2 (added weight) or 2.0 to 3.3, or adjustable factory shocks to fixed, or RWD to AWD or vice versa, you might have some issues. Unfortunately you’re not going to get a definitive answer until you try it.

another thing to consider is the labor costs. Do you really want to pay 2x labor to remove 3-4 year old coil overs from old car and swap out to new? Might be better off buying a new coil over set and instead of paying all that labor.

we don't have GT1/GT2 or AWD in Australia. You get either the 2.0 or the 3.3L, we don't have variants of each model but with the 2021 version as its the facelift one in Australia already there is extra drive modes available. I dont really see a problem, it should work fine but best to get a shop to have a look and confirm it.

@Reldas is right, only RWD here, both Stinger GT, 3.3Ltr - same spec.

@Snowwhite Good point - I have considered the wasted labour costs, but the price of extra labour is much less than the price of a new set of coilovers. Extra labour is approx $750 whereas decent new coils are $2.5K - $3K.

The coilovers have only seen about 20,000 Kms and they are rated for 100,000 Kms so there is still plenty of life yet especially as I don't drive much. Going to just have to suck it up and see how it goes when the new car gets here.

If I only could get my hands on a used full 2017 suspension gear I'd prefer to install so that I have 100% compatibility and I have a spare 2021 spec suspension for use in the future or to restore to factory.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
there should be nothing different between. most coilover sets for the stinger are advertised for either awd or rwd usage. should be a problemo
