Good morning and Happy Labor Day Weekend to all!

I wanted to take a minute to say something to all members on this forum...last night a former Kia Stinger owner was killed in an auto accident in Newport News Virginia on interstate I-664. I am not sure what all the details are about the crash, however what i know it appears the Stinger Owner might have been driving reckless?? I live in this area, and have only seen a few Stingers, so this is hitting close to home as i consider a Stinger owner an extended family member.. Please to all, be CAREFUL and drive responsible!! This collision involved a Stinger contacting another Vehicle, and the second vehicle became air born and landed on the Stinger!! Stinger driver was killed by the other vehicle. Just please be careful driving and remind yourself to be the best driver possible, so you can enjoy life and stay safe for all!

That's sad news. I know everyone want to enjoy the power of the car but can get tempted by the power of the vehicle. Be careful everyone.

Oh no that's very sad to hear. I'm in Williamsburg this weekend and drove my wife's elantra. Be safe everyone. We all know the stingers are fast, but please use common sense.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Police are investigating an accident that killed one person early Sunday.

State Police say they were notified at 2:29 a.m. for a two vehicle accident on I-664 southbound near exit 5 at Jefferson Avenue.

The investigation revealed that a Kia Stinger crossed the path of a Nissan Altima, made contact with the Altima and pushed the vehicle into the guardrail. The momentum of the impact caused the Nissan to roll over and land on top of the Kia. The driver of the Kia was killed instantly.

The driver and passenger of the Altima were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident is under investigation. There are no other details.

Read the link, I wonder if he fell asleep at the wheel or was speeding and lost control? At that time of the morning many things can happen. Back in my young Army days we used to drive from Kansas to NY for a long weekend, during my nap period, I decided to check on my buddy and at that moment he was dozing and about to run into that bar at the back of a semi designed to prevent cars from going under trucks. Let's just say after that experience, I make sure to pull off at a rest stop and take a nap instead of pushing through.

So sad to hear. Last week, took my skirts to be painted and the bodyshop manager said he recieved 2 Stingers last week that were totaled. I hate to hear dreadful news like this. Please drive safe everyone. Don't be stupid, lose your Stinger, kill someone, or lose your life. Enjoy the smooth cruise.

So sad to hear this at anytime, always seems to hit harder when it’s close to home so to speak, let’s hope is not even closer with one of our fraternity....:(

Spent 18 years in that area.. Sad to hear.

Know your limits, and be smart.

my weekend started doing a little trip to get sushi, sure the car is nimble, and fast.....but these are public roads and not a racetrack.....all it takes is one out of the gazzillion cars out there to bleed some oil and our stingers won't be so nimble........have fun ,drive safe......

Sorry to hear about this. This kind of stuff happens when you have a car built with sporty intentions. This car is plenty fast to get an inexperienced driver into trouble, or even an experienced one who has a lapse in judgement.

If anyone hears of anymore details let us know.

I have family in that area and can tell you that people fly through there all the time. Driving like maniacs. I know the Stinger is an awesome vehicle but you can't enjoy it dead. Just slow down and be safe everyone. Also, don't drive under the influence. Prayers for the family on their loss.

Very sad indeed.....this is not a great way to start my day ,reading about this tragedy....please be careful folks Wash

It was a freak accident. Cars do not land on top of each other, except when it happens. Bad luck! We know nothing about what caused the accident. Could have been the car that did the flip onto the Stinger. Somebody was where the other somebody did not expect them to be (broke Merlin the Mad's Rules of Defensive Driving, Rule No. Five).

1. Always devote as much conscious attention to your driving as required. I would say at least half of your brain power at all times. Reduce multitasking.

2. Never follow too closely. Be generous in the allowance of space between your car and the vehicle you are following.

3. Reduce speed to existing conditions. This means never use cruise control in slick or icy or restricted visibility conditions.

4. Check your mirrors often. The idiots behind you will pose your greatest risk that you have zero control over.

5. Never perform sudden, unsignaled maneuvers. Always be where other drivers expect you to be.

6. Check for side traffic, and double check, before pulling out into traffic or changing lanes.

It is an odd irony, that now that I have a high performance vehicle, I am actually more leary and on the lookout for everybody else. I have a machine that can potentially escape by sudden bursts of speed. And here I am more concerned than ever before about how everybody around me is behaving.:cautious::eek::unsure:

Here's what keeps me out of trouble New Car Stress .....it only happens for me once in a blue moon, cause I tend to keep my cars....Heck yesterday I moved the darn car from a parking spot that I saw was getting too action from cars next to us.....okay then im going to stop my lunch, and go park the car over on the north forty of the parking lot...... driving the car like when I used to fly...head on a swivel :) Wash

oh man you have no idea how livid I get when I see texting and driving, especially men in there 50's ...they are the worst. For the record, I'm in my 50's but I know better; Phone goes in the consol w/the key fob.
