Sorry if this has been addressed before. Wasn't sure what to search/what terms to use.

When using CarPlay, sometimes when I press a button (changing app, buttons within an app) the button will darken like the screen has recognized it, but not do anything. The button stays dark. Almost like it's been half pressed if that makes sense. If I click somewhere else on the screen sometimes it lights back up to normal, or I can just press the button again and it will work.

It's like the touch screen registers the touch but not enough to actually execute on.

Anyone ever see this/have a fix?

I know what you're describing. Might have seen it on the Stinger, but I can definitely say CarPlay gets wonky sometimes. I've occasionally even had to restart the car to force the infotainment system to reboot, and have many times had to reconnect my phone to reset CarPlay. Make sure your iOS is updated, and consider installing the new infotainment/map update (especially now that they're available free).

Two things.

First, this sounds like the behavior when an app on iOS has automatically been “offloaded” due to space constraints on the device. In theory, if an app has been offloaded, it shouldn’t show up in the CarPlay screen, but Apple’s QA had been on the decline the last couple years. I can see a scenario where that app icon is still on the CarPlay screen, so when you press it, the phone is downloading the app again, but with no notification.

Second, simpler explanation: the cable. I cleared up a lot of CarPlay gremlins by replacing the cable.

I really only use Waze, Apple Music, and the Phone app in CarPlay, so it is definitely not the first thing.

I guess I could try a different cable but I'm skeptical. I've had a couple of different cables and have seen this behavior.

I've had the same issue in my car since day 1. Different cables, software updates, different phones, nothing's fixed it. I actually got a survey this morning from Kia engineering and this was one of the few issues I mentioned.
