Interesting that the slideshow has the Stinger right after the A5 Sportback. The Audi looks rather bland in comparison to the Stinger IMHO.

The Giulia is recognized universally as a superior handling car at the top of these evaluations. Car and Driver and other mags have been very vocal about its reliability issues and low quality interior for the money. But dynamically, it is impressive. Consumer Reports is the source for rating reliability, at the cost of enthusiasts' interests.

"..expressive show car looks." Car and Driver agrees. If it was only a beauty contest...

Then they should have said in the headline best handling cars.. not just best small luxury cars. From what I was reading in the article they didn't allude to rating them just by handling. They also weren't just rating them by performance either. I like reading their test drives of cars, but they should stay out of the ratings market.

Consider the company the fully loaded $50K Stinger is keeping here. The Quadrifoglio is deservedly revered for its exceptional handling and Ferrari mill, as is the Audi for its smoothness and quality. I just can't get worked up about the excellent showing the G70 and Stinger have made. I shopped the more expensive brands, as well as the Mustang GT and Shelby (I've driven a 5 speed Mustang daily for the last 32 years). The Stinger checks al the boxes at a great price. C'mon, the G70 finished FIRST! I think C and D were more than fair and accurate.

I have no big problems, but ranking a car 2nd and saying it handles good but sucks in reliability, ergonomics and interior quality should never, ever give a car 2nd place over others way more capable... They didn't say it was the quadrifoglio either.

Well, we all know what they say about opinions...

For what it's worth, I still put my Stinger at #1. Which, considering my track record of 79 cars over 38 years of driving, might seem impressive. Normally I'd have acquired something else by now. Still not even tempted to shop!

All of these cars were contenders on my list. I chose G70and I lov it!

What is with Stinger owners and hating on the Giulia? The Giulia is a better car in many ways to the Stinger. In fact it says alot about cars today that there really inst a bad car on that entire list.

My only gripe is its horrible reliability and horrendous service and repair cost. Other than that, they are sexy and fun to drive

What have you seen as far as 'horrible reliability' on the Giulia? I've seen a few reports of electrical issues but that is probably 0.000001% of the population.

Me directly, none. When was shopping them versus the Stinger, the local dealership service manager gave me his assessment to avoid it.

Read the long term test reports, let alone the debut shakedowns in most auto mags (I subscribe to Autoweek, Car and Driver, Road and Track, Automobile, and Hemming's Motor News). They report multiple failures, nagging glitches, and shop visits. And these are prepped cars that Alfa provides. BUT...the engine, driving dynamics, and handling experience are so rewarding and sweet that most testers say they would put up with the gremlins. The Stelvio outperforms most sport sedans and it's a frickin' SUV. It's the perfect car for the well-heeled enthusiast who can swap to their Porsche/Audi, etc. while it's in the shop. Good luck getting into a Quadrifoglio for less than $85K-$90K, which is another sore spot. For that kind of lira, one expects perfection.

What I've noticed in a lot of on-line threads and forums is that people who have skin in the game tend to be brand and model loyal, often beyond objectivity and reason. Add in a touch of testosterone and ego and some of the threads devolve into Calvin pissing on the other brand (not here). It's okay with me that the Stinger may not be the ultimate expression of driving perfection. What's cool is it's in the pack at thousands less. Any auto maker can do exceptional at $80K, but Kia has shocked the market with a $40K-$50K stunner. And that value, function, and style convinced me to write the check after looking at everything else.

I live in a very small town. My '89 Mustang GT has been a local favorite since new, even with the Chevy and Mopar crowd. When I brought the Stinger around, my gear head friends' eyes lit up. I get stopped in parking lots and peppered with questions or thumbs up on the road several times a week. And now, a new Camry can't blow me away, lol.

I test drove a Giulia and Stelvio, even considered buying one, but after a few test drives, I just couldn't get over the brakes. Literally the worst brake feel I have ever experienced. I did like the interior though, and would prefer it over the stinger in the TI trim, except for the HUD which looks like an old pixelated Nintendo game to me. The other deal breaker is the detuning that those cars are going through at the moment for safety reasons which is killing the HP/performance of those cars.

Tork did a video review on their engine at one point and commented on how all of the buildup is on one side of the engine (Quadrifoglio), which I thought was interesting.

That said, I wouldn't turn down an offer on a reasonably priced quadrifoglio.
