Canadian Fuel Economy Released

Good to hear that mileage seems to be tracking close to their published numbers. I think Kia is quite careful about that these days, as they had to set up a fuel cost reimbursement program several years back when their published numbers didn't match reality.

My brother has a 2012 Kia Rio, and every few months he goes to a Kia dealer where they verify his mileage and cut him a cheque to compensate for extra fuel he's burned over their original published numbers. It's a lifetime program, so as long as he has the car they'll keep writing out cheques ... :p

Am in Edmonton, cold but the roads are dry. What grade of gas are you guys using by the way?

@Soca Boy what are you driving? I’m also in Edmonton, haven’t seen a Stinger on the streets yet other than mine.

Hope everyone has checked in to the stinger Alberta page!

Pretty much the same in Calgary, though Winter just won't let go - we're expecting another blast of snow today and tomorrow. I'm using premium (91) for the first few tanks until everything is bedded in, but will soon try regular (87) and compare the differences for both performance and fuel economy (which I expect will fall off somewhat on regular, at least marginally).

The owner's manual simply suggests a minimum of 87 octane - not even a recommendation of premium. If I have a spirited drive in mind, or even a chance at some track time to explore the handling, I'll run premium. With the price differential being what it is, it's nice to have the choice ...

Please share your findings as I’m interested in figuring that out too.

Ive since gotten mine to go down. Took it for a nice drive and didn't go hard. The fuel economy is def being thrown off for me cause i live so close to my workplace. I dont think the computer is 100% accurate to begin with. Let alone with such short trips. Either way im sitting at about 13.2L/100 now and slowly going down.

Apparently the owner's manuals are being retrofitted with a sticker that recommends premium. Pretty sure the official fuel economy numbers were done with 91 octane, not 87.
