So I was an idiot and didnt read burgers product description for the jb4. I have only a mac as a laptop and have since ordered the mobile cable. I would like to get the install done asap since I did my cold air today. Just wondering if its possible to install without an active device connection when its plugged into the car.

I cannot. I'd have to use the desktop. That is why I was asking if I could set it up and load a map onto it before its installed or if I can just install it and it will just run a stock map until I get the mobile connect wire in and connect it to my phone.
Perhaps you did not understand my question. I am waiting on the mobile connect cable but I have someone who can help me today only and I would like to get the thing installed anyway. What I am asking is this: Is there a way to install the JB4 without connecting a device to it and not have it hurt anything OR is there a way to set up the JB4 with a windows DESKTOP away from the car and then install it.

Install it. Your car will run stock. Once your blue tooth thingy shows up, hook it up go into the app and Bob’s your uncle. Oh, and put some quality 93 or better in the tank.

Yep. Its installed (although I had to do it myself anyway cause the buddy backed out which made the positaps real fun) and running stock as promised. Mobile cable will be here saturday and we will be in business.
