Cabin Blower Noise - Help Would Be Appreciated

Dealer is playing dumb. Noise is intermittent so they continue to play the “we can’t recreate the noise” card

Intermittent squeeky-bearing-like low volume high pitch noise coming through the air vents at low fan speeds. More when temp set to cool, less when temp set to warm, the worst occurs when AC is engaged.

When the noise occurs I can turn off the AC, the noise goes away suddenly then when AC is turned back on the noise returns very briefly, fades, then comes back strong after a few seconds.

I want to say it’s probably the blower motor, and the AC being on (colder temperatures) just exacerbates the issue not causes it. What other parts of the cabin air system spin and could cause a noisy-bearing spinning-type low volume high pitch noise like this?

I wanted to try for some input before ordering a blower fan. Any one else have this issue? Thanks all

I also had some blower noises starting on my Stinger, probably around 12,000KMS or so. It seems on fan speed 1 and 2 it would quietly squeak away, but if you turned the fan speed up past that, it would stop. This was most noticeable on a long road trip when I had the climate control set to auto, the fan would slow down the lowest setting and it would make noise.

I'm only able to confirm that this is a thing, I never did get it fixed before I got rid of the car. My 2015 Mustang GT also had this same issue, and IIRC, my 2012 Kia Sportage did it as well. I wonder if it is somewhat common on more modern cars with so many variable fan speeds (rather than old cars with speed 1, 2, 3 and 4)? Either way I think your only recourse is to wait for a day when it is bad and stop by the dealer and demand a tech ride with you to confirm it, otherwise you'll be playing cat and mouse.

As I'm sure many here know, I'm the guy who complains and chases rattles on everything. The best way to at least get it started is to just take some time out of your day when it happens and go straight to the dealer. Maybe leave the car running so it doesn't interrupt the noise and talk to the advisor or manager and tell them you need a tech to go listen an confirm it is real. Acknowledgement that there is a problem is the first step! Good luck!

I'm betting they'll replace the blower motor, though.

I have the same issue. Went to the dealer 3 different times. Tech sat in the car initially and heard it but as soon as he took it to the back all of the sudden couldn't recreate it. If you pull the blower fan out you can grease the bearing easily to stop the noise for a couple of months. It is really easy to get to under the glove compartment

I am having the exact same issue you described. The faint whistling noise is most noticeable at setting 1 in my 2022 GT line. Any luck after all these years?

yea thats what I have been doing. The blower is really easy to replace if needed. I think I saw them on ebay for around 70 if replacing. Just annoying dealership isnt worth sh*t

Well Im waiting to see if my dealer will warranty it as I have it on video of it doing it. Just need to hear from them.

It is the bearing center portion of the blower. Issue is it won't last. Will be quiet for a week.

My old G37 had a weird whine under certain conditions - ~70-80 mph, 6th gear, on asphalt roads. It was very faint. Few time I brought it in they could not hear it. Said it must be in my head. I eventually gave up and just turned the stereo up louder.

So far I don't hear anything in mine. Will listen for it next time I drive with the ac on, stereo off, fan in #1, 2 positions.

Blower fan bearing. If you can't hear anything then you're probably good man.

Still replying despite being late in case anybody stumbles across and finds it helpful. Ended up replacing with a Dorman fan I got from advance auto. It solves the squealing noise. Although, the replacement blower seems to be louder (the actual fan sounds like it’s catching more drag) than the OEM so there is a trade off. I just ordered a new one from the dealer which I assume will fix the problem. I was unable to solve the beating squeak with grease, I even disassembled the motor before ordering replacements and it didn’t help for long.

I have the same issue on my 2018 GT Limited (GT2). I think im just going to replace the blower and see if that helps.
