The GT looks very much like an offset crash, probably with rotational tearing to the driver’s side of the front clip. Even if it it was head-on, the technology can only apply brakes, which isn’t always sufficient to overcome the sudden appearance of a moving obstacle with a trajectory change. Regardless, sad for the cars, but both impacts look to have been highly survivable (which does help insurance premiums too).

As stated, all the nanny features can do is brake. An oncoming vehicle suddenly appearing can't be avoided by these systems.

I was taken out by a DUI that lost control of his Camaro and crossed 3 lanes to hit me. Only awareness and quick reactions saved me from a head-on, instead it was a hit from the side, right into my door and B pillar, spun me around into a ditch. Vehicle was totaled. His car lost the entire front quarter - but he still tried to drive away.

Forward collision avoidance, specifically braking, could have made it much worse for me. I saw him, anticipated, knew I had room to move over, and accelerated into the next lane. Frontal impact would have been well over 100mph combined speed (45 zone, and he was speeding)..

Ouch!!!....very unfortunate sight....however I'll be willing to purchase that red interior.

Not often I come across someone that understands combined speed.

The true measure of safety of a car, IMO, is whether or the not the driver and passengers in the cars walk away. Looks like they probably did given interior pictures. The nanny features are really nice to have in these cars but nothing is as valuable as seatbelts, a sturdy frame, and some airbags.

Yeah.. forgot to include the fact that despite getting t-boned right into my door and B pillar by a vehicle travelling an estimated 60mph, I didn't have so much as a scratch or bruise on me. Had to crawl out the other side, though!

KIA get's a huge A+ in safety for me. That's why I bought another to replace it.

Good to hear your ok.

I have seen many horror movies, but looking at those photos scared the you know what out of me, and so soon with so low mileage, as the driver of a Stinger, just because we are so lucky too own one, doesn't mean some of us know how too handle it when those twin turbos turn savage. That was my two cents.
You don't need twin turbos to turn savage to wreck the hall out of a car. If you can not drive a car period, please do not buy a car. And if you are pushing 50 and do not have a history with riding motor bikes, please do not start. I have lost three friends who got killed because they were idiots that thought that it was cool to drive a cycle after 50 with little to no experience. Stupid is that stupid does. Stay safe Stinger drivers.
