How did you all break in your motor? I only have 150 miles left to go for the recommended 600 miles. But I have already ran it to redline twice now, I can't help my self, this car is too awesome.

Hopefully I did not damage anything by doing so... :/

Redline won't hurt it. As long as you're not beating the hell out of it, it won't really hurt anything. Mine hit redline QUITE a few times in that first 600 miles. As did my GTI before this, which I had for 75k miles and never burned thru any oil.

I got it hot to normal running temp as soon as I turned it on. Give it revs or just drive it and punch it a lil about 4K then shift.

The only thing to avoid is constant RPM like a 500 mile trip on cruise control, or a weekend at a track. Otherwise, drive and enjoy it!

I am a manual freak. Kia says avoid heavy braking; and "racing" the engine is to be avoided for the first 600 miles. So Sport mode and paddle shifting to maintain 2K to 4K RPMs was my recipe to avoid continuous engine speed. My use of brakes is naturally moderate to light, so that was never an issue (at my latest, 14K mile maintenance last week, they said my brakes look practically brand new). But I seriously doubt that twice to red line in the first 600 miles qualifies as "racing" the engine, unless you held red line for a while.
