Hello everyone,
I'm almost 4k miles in and so far I am in love with this car. After seeing all the options on this forum, I decided to rebadge my Stinger and for the most part the results were excellent. My front E badge was installed flawlessly minus a tiny clearcoat swirl that came out with mild polish. Unfortunately, I messed up big time when applying my new rear stinger logo, and so I am swallowing my pride and asking for advice. The outline of the original logo remains and parts of the paint are down to the white undercoat (appears dark due to lighting). I have already ordered a paint pen (4SS).

The community here is very friendly and I don't want to bring the Stinger image down for everyone else. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated :)

It’s hard to tell from your photo what we’re looking at. I can’t tell if it’s just glue that needs to be removed or if you actually have paint damage. I definitely wouldn’t have put the stinger badge on until you got it resolved because you’re probably going to have to remove the new badge, get that fixed and reapply a new badge.

I think youre up for a respray as it looks like the paint has faded around old badge. You could try a cutting compound.

As your thread suggests...it’s botched, IMHO I wouldn’t make it any worse than it is, you will need to go to a body shop & get a new badge & it will look like new.

Assuming that the picture looks worse than the reality, you could polish/buff the shape of the KIA badge away, apply the touch up pen very sparingly, and then buff that and put on several coats of wax. If it still looks like hell, then do as suggested; get a new Stinger badge and have the damage fixed first.

Oh no! I’m sorry, David. To me it looks like you just haven’t taken off all of the glue, and maybe there’s a scrape the top? It takes a lot of elbow grease and Goo Gone. Did you use a hair dryer too soften the glue before you took it off? I hope it’s an easy fix. I guess worst case scenario, you just put the Kia badge back on to hide it.

Use a 3M eraser wheel on a drill. I debadged my entire trucks trim this way, then attacked our 1 week old Stinger doing the back badge same as you. Zero issues with that emblem, then removed the dealer badging.

Take your car to a paint correction place, have them cut and polish the clear.

That looks sooooo good!

I did something similar a while back. Got the holes patched and panel painted for $300aud. Missus wants me to put the Stinger badge on but I like it as it is (something different to everyone else).

I agree!! @basysmith What rims are those?? Do you happen to have a side picture?? I got the silky silver and I've been trying to find rims I like and I like.
Anything in black is going to look really good. (Of course, I would say that.:P)

Yeah, I'd think you'd be a little partial. :D Yours look good as well.

I didn't like gloss black or flat black on the silky silver. Mine are "tint" which are the closest I could find to the black chrome bits around the car. Wheels are 20" M580's 245 front, 275 rear.

Oh I'm digging that! That has been my biggest concern is going full black, chrome or some variation of the two. I like the tint idea to tie it all in.

@basysmith ... can you stop with the pictures now, it's making me and my stinger feel inferior. :p

Btw... do you have any suspension mods? I was thinking of doing 20's (stock suspension), but not sure about the fit.
