I have a 2023 Stinger GT2 RWD and I want to improve the exhaust. I want an aggressive sound when I punch it, but I do not want to have an annoying drone sound in the cab -- loud when I want it and quiet when I don't ...

Haven't heard of any aftermarket stinger exhaust system that doesn't produce the drone. But if you are choosing between borla or magnaflow, magnaflow will definitely produce lot less of it than borla.

Thanks for the information ... I appreciate it.

Both sound great, but unfortunately with a 6-cylinder, you are going to be stuck with a bit of drone. Personally, the Borla S-Type is my favorite exhaust for the Stinger, and it's a bit cheaper than the Magnaflow.

As far as drone, my experience with the Borla was great. It does drone a little bit, but it wasn't enough to bother me or my passenger. And when you get on it, it just sounds so good...

Let me know what you decide on and I can work the price down a little with you.

Have you heard the Ark Performance Grip Exhaust yet?

In my opinion, this exhaust has the least amount of drone for the stinger compared to any other exhaust on the market.

A big part of that is due to the proprietary Helmholtz piping they integrated into the exhaust piping.

Pretty expensive, but worth it if you don’t want to have any drone at all or little to none.

ARK GRiP Exhaust Review Is that the one? People are complaining about the drone.

This review was from 5.5 years ago when it was first released.

If you read some of the comments, you’ll see that some of the reviews changed after some miles were added.

I think the issue is most people install it, and then give a review immediately after driving home without allowing enough time for the exhaust to break in completely, and allow the tone to change a bit.

However, to be completely honest with you, I can find an opinion on the Internet from someone for every single exhaust saying that there is drone with it. Everyone has a different opinion, but I’ve heard it in person several times and I think it’s the best sounding exhaust available for the platform in my opinion.

We also have 20 5-Star reviews on our website website for this product from verified customers that have purchased the exhaust.

I see. The whole "best sounding exhaust" topic is so subjective, there's really no point in arguing. Do you think stinger having that body style, pretty much one open area inside the car, has something to do with drone? I've never seen so many drone complaints about any othe car.

I agree 100%!

I’m really sorry if you felt my response to your reply was arguing or that we were having an argument. I definitely did not feel that way and thought we were just having a conversation about the exhaust.

Absolutely not. Installing any aftermarket exhaust to a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder engine will always have its challenges with drone.

This is exactly why I stated Ark Performance is different from the rest, as very few companies design a catback exhaust with custom proprietary resonator style components welded in line with the catback, in addition to the mufflers. (The purpose of this is to specifically address the drone)

Thanks for the input on all fronts ... I really appreciate it. Next question: What about cold air intakes?
We have quite a selection to choose from as well.

Injen is hands down the most popular, but a lot of Stinger owners prefer the sealed box with the aFe system.

We have the Injen’s installed on our own Stinger, and absolutely love it.

Worst drone I've heard, could barely drive it home. Spent a grand trying to get it modified. Even with full dynamat of the boot (trunk) and under the rear seats it was still droning. Ended up selling.

Note. The muffler cannisters were hollow. Settled with Borla type S it was the best i could have got. Zero drone.

Wow interesting, haven’t heard that type of feedback before.

I have Borla on a 2023 GT2 AWD and I have no drone what so ever. I test road in a Stinger with an MBRP and it had bad drone so I decided on Borla and haven't had any issues.

Awesome ... that is what I am looking for. I really appreciate the input. How happy are you with the performance? And if I may ask, what is the description of the exhaust that you have (I want to make sure I buy the correct one)?

That’s awesome to hear. They really put a lot of R&D into the new system, so we always love to hear this kind of feedback.

The one designed from Borla for the 2022-2023 Stinger with active exhaust is this one here:

2022-2023 Kia Stinger 3.3T - Borla S-Type Active Electronic Valve Catback Exhaust - K8 Stinger Store

The older version made by Borla for the 2018-2021 Stinger will still fit on the 2022-2023 Stinger, but you’ll lose the electronic valve control that is built into your factory setup when swapping to the older Borla system.
