What are your thoughts on Muffler Deletes Vs a Full Cat Back system?

I can get my mufflers deleted for about $100 vs spending 1k+. So far i havent seen much drone in the few users that posted about muffler deletes.

What I want.

LOUD DEEP VOCALS WHEN MY STINGER SINGS. What i dont want my car feeling like its the tail of a rattle snake.

Any thoughts?

Either of those options will drone quite a bit. The deletes will be worse.

If you want deep I don't know that a muffler delete does it. Cat-backs by Thermal, Stillen, and one other that escapes me are IMO how to get deep notes.

@Racerx might be have one of the deeper muffler deletes, wish he could get some more info on the brand / size of the helmholtz that he has.

I think my next mod will be the SSR downpipes, then maybe an axleback after that. interested in seeing what SSR comes out with for an EVC axleback.

Ya idk what to do. Just got a quote it would be 340 into total ($140 for the custom downpipes) to straight pipe from the secondaries. Sounds pretty enticing. Just doubt I'd be able to live with the drone.

That is crazy cheap. So, from what I'm reading, straight pipes from the primary cats back to the rear facia for $340?

I have to imagine that would be loud and have a good amount of drone. I also have to imagine that its not a stainless exhaust. So it would only last 5 years if you don't like it.

The EVC axleback is listed on their site for something like $1200. You can get the xforce EVC catback for the same price. I am thinking of just buying the xforce varex mufflers and going that route.

Ya its aluminized. I got a quote from someone to use 304 and they wanted 1400 lol. For that id buy a shelf brand.

I didn't realize there were mufflers with integrated cutouts available. Likey! Likey!
Looks like they Varex are electric based. From what I've read vacuum actuated EVC valves tend to be more reliable. Will definitely look into them though.

Ouch, that is salty on the SSR but it makes sense. Most pre-made muffler deletes are around $500 and EVC mufflers like Varex would be $300 a piece. Looked at the SSR website and there is definitely some time in welding those up. Its a nice straight shot when the valve is open!

Agreed. Same warranty though. And varex you can adjust how open the valve is. I don’t think that would be an option with SSR but could be wrong.

We have Muffler deletes and the Borla exhaust on our websites at the best price available I believe. If it was up to me I would do muffler deletes and downpipes. The ECU adapted very well to just doing muffler deletes and intakes on our shop car. Damnfastdd.com

Okay I got my flame suit on ,and my undies are already bunched up...so here goes:)
You will never get a good sound out of this engine no matter what...its a turbo itsy bitsy 6 cylinder that sounds just fine with all the crap from the factory, and you can go plenty fast with a tune ,and intercoolers, and intakes.... but all you get with any exhaust mod is pure Crap ...and the more you mess with it the louder the Crap becomes...do you want your car to sound like a ricer? Well thats what you get...pure effin Rice....if you want good sounds remove the bad azz six, and put a small v8 in there....if you need some good sounds come over and drive my vette for a while...its got the sound that you will NEVER get from the stinger....Cant you all just be satisfied with a great looking faasst car? why turn it into a Ghetto car? Flame away lol :) Wash

the only reason I acted out is cause wifey wont let me do em on the car :D

I also love the sound of an american 8 cylinder. Never had a Vette but had F-Bodies for a number of years.
People long for different sounds. A lot of it comes from what you have grown up with. I can see people's desire for a "riced up" or European type sound from the car. That is what this car will best produce.

I tend to like the deeper notes that Thermal provides but like you say it will never get you to the sound that a V8 will produce. So IMO that should never be your goal.

but all you get with any exhaust mod is pure Crap ...

You can also get quite a bit of extra power with DPs, cat deletes, etc. You may not like that it doesn't sound like an LSX but the results of exhaust mods on this car have proven to be more than just "pure crap".

Hey @Sales@Tork , If i remember correctly, you ended up leaving the primaries right? Did you leave the resonator? Thinking that will be my route on Saturday, downpipes (removing the secondaries) and muffler delete, but leaving the resonator and midpipe.

I appreciate the thoughtfulness to not try to upsell me into an exhaust if you felt the deletes were a good move! Very respectable.

Yes, we removed just the mufflers and right now we have the primary cats on the vehicle

so your opinion is that any car without a V8 sounds like crap or "pure effin rice"? While I love the sound of a V8, I have to disagree with that, but it's a pretty subjective thing so to each their own.

Doel Yes I do agree with you....its subjective for sure ! No it doesn't have to be a v8 to make great sounds....but I havnt heard a decent sound clip yet of the Stinger....and the drone? Why do something to create that noise inside this wonderful cabin of ours?
The lines of the car ,the colors ,and the performance take a backseat when the noise emitting from it sound like a Honda Civic . Im not the sound police ...Ha.. do whatever flips your trigger :) Wash
