Borla Exhaust Tailpipe Misalignment?

I've installed and been running the Borla Exhaust for about a week and I've noticed a slight 'issue' with it...

Check out the two photos below:

Right muffler

Left muffler

Notice how on the right muffler, the right most tailpipe, and on the left muffler, on the leftmost tailpipe, each of those respective tailpipes seem to be slanted downward? I think it's very strange - the photos don't really do justice but trust me, when you see it in person it's clear that those are definitely slanted downward. I am under the assumption that all 4 tailpipes should be centered in the exhaust tips, or if not at least close enough to be centered and not immediately notice a downward slant.

Also, on the left muffler on the left most tailpipe (the slanted down one) it does a very peculiar thing when the exhaust has come up to temp. The left side of the muffler seems to come down a bit under temperature to the point where the left most tailpipe actually hits the exhaust tip - and under throttle the tailpipe vibrates against the exhaust tip, causing a very annoying rattling noise (not talking about drone, but specifically a metal-on-metal kind of sounding noise under throttle)

I did install the exhaust myself but upon seeing this, I went under the car twice to check all nuts, bolts, hangars, alignment, etc... nothing seems out of place/loose/misaligned regarding the install. The exhaust is rock solid in its place with very little movement to give.

Has anyone else who has/had the Borla exhaust have/had this issue??? For paying over $1000 for this, I didn't expect this to be something I'd have to look into. If this isn't what the Borla exhaust should be looking like, it almost looks like it was a poor welding job/craftsmanship done over at the factory... Curious to see if anyone's faced something like this.

Mine is not dead on perfect, but close enough that when I put on the aftermarket, bolt on exhaust tips, they were very closely aligned with the holes in the bumper. I doubt it's a manufacturer issue, you probably need to take it to a mechanic, put it up on a lift, loosen all the clamps, and twist the muffler by hand. You have to hold it in position, while someone else tightens the clamps with an impact gun. My mechanic was definitely fiddling with it during the install to get it lined up just right.

Oh interesting... I actually called Borla today and that's almost exactly what they told me - loosen the clamps that connects the cross pipe to the midpipe, have someone twist/push up on the exhaust so that the tailpipes are as centered as possible and then tighten everything back up. Gonna give it a shot this weekend, hopefully this will resolve the issue. Cheers

Meant to quote OP.

Loosen clamps (all of them), rotate at various points. Tighten.

I did mine myself too. With rear ramps only. In Atlanta in July. And I’m fat.

Thanks, I'm giving that a try this weekend. From my initial installation inspection it didn't look like there was any more room in the hangars for any additional upward clearance of the midpipes and exhaust but I'll have to take a closer look

Hammer time.

maybe a poor qc.

Very common for dual exhausts to be maligned. Probably why the stinger has fale tips to ensure perfect fit.

Did loosening the clamps and rotating fix the misalignment? I have a similar problem.

Yes! It was actually a very easy fix, took me about 10 minutes total

So what I did was loosen the clamps the closest to the back of the car - the clamps that connect the end of the midpipe to the beginning of the mufflers. You don't have to loosen them completely, just enough so that you can push up on your mufflers (push the mufflers up by pushing on the outermost part of the muffler, the side closest to the sides of your car)

Then you just wanna make sure that you push them up enough so that both tailpipes are centered in the exhaust tips. A whole lot easier if you have another person with you seeing the tailpipe and exhaust tip alignment and to also hold the muffler in place while you tighten the clamps back. Tighten to 35 ft/lb torque. I didn't have anyone with me at the time so I had to use my legs to hold up the mufflers while I tightened down the clamps. Nearly threw my damn back out lol
