So I decided to test how easily one could overboost the Stinger GT with bolt ons. I have ram air ducts, intakes, charge pipes, an intercooler, secondary downpipes, and a catback exhaust.

It was 29F outside and I disable my Racechip GTS before starting the engine. Once my engine oil got up to temp (over 170F) after driving around at under 2K rpm , I downshifted to 2nd gear at 40mph. When it hit ~5K rpm, I upshifted the 3rd to build boost. The car on the "stock tune" hit 17psi and overboosted as expected. The max boost I ever observed while running map 7 on the Racechip GTS is 16.4 psi. I can confirm after running the Racechip on map 7 for 15,010 miles that it will prevent overboosting from simple bolt ons. If you have catless primary downpipes or high flow cats on the primary downpipes, you'll need a JB4 with EWG wires to prevent overboosting.

I attached a log from my Bluetooth ODB2 scanner/reader. I filtered to only show boost pressure and charge air temps (IATs).

Thanks for this. I want to do secondary downpipes next and I wasn’t sure if I needed EWG wires.

With the racechip, what spark plugs are you running?

Hey guys, just FYI - if you're pulling OBD2 boost readings while using a Racechip, they won't be accurate. Not sure if other Piggybacks are the same way, but RC did tell me that they under report boost to the ECU to ramp power. If you want real world psi readings, you'll need a separate gauge.

I use an Ultragauge in my car, and had questions about the legitimacy of the readings. :)
