BMS Oil Catch Can Installed

Hi guys! I managed to install this BMS maintenance-free oil catch can. Fast delivery from the store on this site! Installation was so easy. I did cut probably half an inch on the top part of the BMS hose. I didn’t cut the stock part. No need for that. I also took apart the can and put a blue thread locker on the screws.

No kink hoses on the installation. It is held by the hoses on the bottom and top part. The can is not touching anything as it does get hot. This can is not going anywhere! Time will tell if this thing works as I would like to keep my car for a long time.

BTW, I'm going to take this out when smog time here in CA. This is not smog-legal. You are not going to pass a visual exam.

Just did mine today as well. Did you have to re-route the sensor wire?

I'm skeptical of "maintenance free" IT's confusing to me what "maintenance free" means on a catch can. The purpose is plumb into the PCV stream and "catch" (i.e condense) the vapors, separating out the oil. On these GDI engines you can slow down the amount of carbon build up on the valves which WILL OCCUR after tens of thousand of miles. But the exhaust has traces of water vapor in it. If this is draining the condensate back into the crankcase, then there is going to be water mixed in with the hot oil on return. It may be trace amounts, but as we all know water and oil don't mix.

There is no easy fix to the GDI problem. Some cars are using "dual injection" combining "old fashioned" port injection with direct injection. The port injection provides the benefit of gasoline wash to the valves keeping them clean.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I’m new to the Stinger world. I am considering getting a BMS catch can for the maintenance free aspect. On the contrary, @65RivieraGS brings up a very good point about the water vapors being drained back into the crankcase. I’m trying to see if the benefits outweigh the cost of a regular catch can unit. Any input on the BMS can would be greatly appreciated.
 
Installed mine last week, took 5 mins and gives some peace of mind & preventative maintenance

As i have been pumping E85/98 through my car for the last year, i figured changing my oil every 3000km's would certainly aleviate any fears of moisture running back into the sump from this valve clean saving apparatus.

I also wrapped it in gold tape and i can actually hold onto it when hot, as opposed to raw state when it must be 100+ degrees sitting above the turbo.

I should have kept mine and wrapped it in gold foil tape!
