BMS JB4 Stinger water/meth (WMI) sneak peak

Hi Terry, I have a question about the wmi kit. I have a K&N intake JB4 and WMI set to Map8 and run 94oct at the track. I was talking with a bmw coupe driver that was running a custom tune along with a JB4 and WMI kit but was running straight methanol. My question is can we run straight methanol as it is $6.60 a gallon compared to $15 for a gallon of boost juice.

Sure... In some states -40F washer fluid is 30% methanol and people run that too. With the stronger mixtures just be more aware of the fire risks involved though. And always handle meth fluid with care it's considered toxic similar to gasoline.

it has been stated somewhere that anything over a 60/40 mix has diminishing returns. It would be cheaper to buy your own pure meth and mix it yourself to the desired concentration. It would also a LOT more dangerous. It's up to you to make informed decisions.

What should the Map 8 settings be set to. Also if I was running washer fluid what settings. Living in Canada -45 blue washer fluid is available all year, no I'm not joking either.

Start slow and work up, maybe a 30 additive to start on unknown fluid quality.

Got a few logs from Eli who is out at the track testing E30 on map5 and map7. As suspected map7 has fuel pressure dropping. The easy options are WMI to supplement the fuel volume, a leaner AFR (probably not a good idea), or unleaded race gas instead of E85 which has a lower fuel volume requirement.

I'm going to try to talk him in to a WMI kit... :)

You should talk me into a WMI kit hahaha

Our WMI kit results do the talking for me. :)

HI Terry,

I'm in Australia...

If I want a WMI kit, if I purchase the one on the burgertuning website, is that all I need? everything comes with it to install?

Also, how much methanol would I use on average? ie. 1 gallon per tank? or less?

Any info greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
Worm

You can order a full kit or parts of a kit depending on what you need. WMI use depends on how often you floor the car. On default settings around 1 gallon of fluid per every 6 minutes of full throttle operation.

Hey all and Terry, I have a 2021 GT1 AWD. I have all bolt ons (Jb4, intakes, intercooler, catless mid pipes, MBRP exhaust). I run map 4 and boostane at the track and have ran a 12.0 @ 117 w/ 1.78 60ft. I did some calculations and it appears meth injection is cheaper after about 1.5 years for me so rather then buy boostane by the case I am thinking of adding this. 2 big questions.

1.) can I run 87 octane gas and 50/50 and will my octane rating still be well over 100 after all is said and done? I heard something about 87 and 50/50 makes a active octane rating of like 110?

2.) Will I get more power from running the meth injection as apposed to the boostane or am I looking at similar performance? I was running 100 octane on map 4 for the run above. My brother has the same car as me but in GT trim with the meth injection kit, and he was able to run an 11.7 at 117. his 60ft was lower i think 1.65. The thing we both notice is my IAT's are like way higher than his and wondering if having really low IAT's due to the meth/water helps with the car giving out full power as opposed to my IAT's being higher and my car playing it safe and potentially pulling some timing to keep things in check?

Wmi has alot more benefits than octane booster. It's also cheaper and adds safety. Don't run 87. That's your base fuel. You want a high starting point. You floor it and methanol take a bit to get in. 87 is a horrible fuel for oem+ boost
