Blackstone oil analysis results

Thanks for posting this up!
I agree, normal for first oil change.
I am surprised (to say the least) at how much calcium is normally in motor oil... :O

It's a detergent. But, that is a similar amount compared to my previous cars. So, I'm not worried.

I know you can get lower calcium oils, they'll use other additives for cleansing though.

I love the personalized comment from the tech, that's a nice touch. Results look good which I'm happy to see as a fellow owner.

I used to have Blackstone UOA done religiously. I’ve fallen way off in recent years. I still have an entire tote full of bottles (this was before they moved to the pre-paid shipping option).

$28 USD. They send you a pre-paid shipping label on the bottle.

I did it for my truck and they sent me 5 bottles after my analysis...

I used to regularly test my Prelude with Blackstone. I'm around the 1300 mi mark on my Stinger, was going to wait until around 1500 for her first oil change and will test those results.

I've used Blackstone for my motorcycles for years, never for my "normal" cars and trucks though. I thought about it for the Stinger, but as I no longer use the drain plug for cars (I evacuate thru the dip stick), I don't think the sample would be "pure".. I guess I could crack open and clean out my extractor first.. or just trust there will be no issue. :)

I'm curious as to why you use the extractor since you have to get underneath the car to change the filter.

I doubt the sampling will be tainted from pulling through the dipstick tube. They ask that you get a sample from the middle of the oil draining, but if you tell them it's from an extractor, they may have some variance they can apply. Or they'll just give you the results and tell you no biggie.

Tainted - from oil from residue in the tank from previous changes.

I don't mess with drain plugs because I don't need to. All but one vehicle I own/service has a top-mounted filter. I'm disappointed I have to crawl underneath to get at the filter on the Stinger, but I'll still remove the oil from above beforehand. It's cleaner/simpler, so it's as simple as that.

The other vehicle is a 2003 F150, and what I do is get a cheap oil change locally, but have them use a good quality high mileage filter that I supply. After a few hundred miles of "flushing", I suck out the conventional oil they used, and put in Mobil 1. That's my thing. I'd do that with the Stinger, but I don't trust them (or anyone) to deal with the undertray correctly.

This is pretty cool, they ship to Canada as well.

Thanks for the thread! Here are the results from my last oil change at 11,500 miles. Interesting the differences in calcium and moly.
