I just call Kia parts Peter warren in SW syd and was $3100. This is insane. I who has this exhaust and is it worth it? I was also looking at the Varex Bi Mode exhaust but saw the review of it being quite loud and has drones down low quick is a no deal for me. Maybe add in extra resinator or cat to combat the drones. The your opinion please.

Pat

The latest bi-modal takes far less time to install and the cost has gone up so much from the original. IMO it's a good system but it doesn't deliver any extra performance. The sound is good through different modes and throttle ranges with no drone. I'm happy with mine, particularly the warranty, but would i pay $3.1k for it.....50/50.

Well, from all that I have read about aftermarket exhausts with drone issues etc. with the pricing of an aftermarket system + the additional $$$ that some have paid for rectification/alterations to counter drone & vibration issues, $3100 looks pretty reasonable against these issues.
You also get 7 years warranty, so when you weigh up the pros & cons & if you can negotiate it in the deal on a new Stinger then go for it.

Thanks guys. Just really bummed it's gone up so much. My I saw on ebay selling for 2k. Must be the old version. How much difference in install price for old version and new version

Don’t know about the new install, but with the old install they removed most of your dash to do all the electrical works, I’m assuming this would still be somewhat the same.

In my opinion, the Varex isn't too loud in general, adds a nice note when closed and sounds great in open mode when you want it to sound more sporty, but it definitely drones under light to medium throttle at around 1500rpm. My thought at this stage is to try alternate exhaust tips to see if that improves things, but I might speak to my installer first and see if he has any ideas before I drop $200 or so on that experiment.

The same Dealer in Melbourne is now asking nearly 2.5k so I think possibly the newer version. The hours to fit would be drastically reduced as the new version is supposed to be "plug & play" by tapping into the rear quarter panel electrics.
The entire cost should be negotiable.

Personally I'd wait and see what comes out in the next year or so. There's nothing yet that anyone's raving about. Really happy with mine but it took time and money to perfect it.

I got the bimodal when I first got the car and love it. Think it was about $2500. I don’t think that’s a lot of money considering the character it gives the car with the sound it makes. My wife would disagree though.

Thanks guys. I maybe look at the option of just changing the muffler varex ones for the tuneability. I'm unsure at this stage

Hey Pat. I'm still working away on a bespoke muffler replace option atm. Version 1; had horrible drone at 1700-2200rpm, so I am back to enjoying the oem silence. Ver 2; will aim to eliminate this with j-pipe additions. I will post my findings here if you like when I get a chance to get back to my guy at the muffler shop. If it works I'm sure he could replicate.

Where are you located. The J Pipe will definitely take care of the drone

Please keep me posted. Very interested.
Hey Pat, had no luck the J pipe as did not fully resolve the drone, it helped, but not quite enough for my liking. They actually sound great in every aspect except cruising speed/rpm's with light on-throttle, which is a decent amount of my driving style. So sad. But I have some fabricated rear mufflers if anybody wants to buy them off me... I'll sell em to you a forum member cheap ... who knows, you might like it?

Is there a Kia PN for this kit? I'm curious to see if US dealers can get it in.

Unlikely, as it's locally manufactured for Kia in one of Melbourne's outer suburbs.

Damn. Well it was worth a shot to ask! Current exchange US/AUD brings that system to $2100, which is at parity with the cost of the Jun BL EVC system. For that $$ I'd much rather have it be tied into the car with Sport mode.

Wonder what it would cost to have it shipped halfway around the globe.

I have the original Bimodal, I was lucky as it was thrown in as part of my car deal.
It's a fun exhaust, you can drive around quite quietly, then put it into sport mode and hear it if you fang it a bit.
However, you can drive around unplugged and it is " loud " in any mode, it has a nice burble in lower gears but also has a noticeable drone, you get used to it, put up your music a bit more or plug it back in.:)

Did you plug yours back in Flame or are you driving around unplugged.
