I have an ECU tune and am well into the 400s with an AWD

Your setup and tune are vastly more aggressive than theirs, I'd consider their tune and results 'safe' / bare-minimum. Which is fine for them wanting a reliable and no fuss tune that hasn't cost them much $$. JB4 with WMI is one of the suggestions being floated here as next level for them. What type of dyno tune did you get, those numbers seem low for an ECU tune
I don't drive it hard and live in the Chicago suburbs.Do you drive your car hard? Live in a hot climate? If so then an intercooler is a good idea to get consistent power.
If you do wmi you might as well get an intercooler setup. That way you can run the meth more as a fuel since the car is fuel limited at higher power levels.I don't drive it hard and live in the Chicago suburbs.
Great questions. You're doing well with the relatively mild upgrades. What's your 1/4 mile slip? I'd imagine tires as Kamauxx suggests would be on the short list.
Other than increasing your dyno numbers, what are your actual goals for the car? Are you just trying to maximize straight line speed or do you expect to track it someday? If it's your daily driver, are you fine [second car?] with the possibility of not having the car for an extended amount of time if it pukes a piston or the transmission shits the bed?
I'd say you're at what I would call a sweet spot in terms of reliable long term operation of the car and performance. You're likely not reducing the engine or transmission's long term durability (much) but you're seeing a significant bump in power. Past this point is no return (or warranty service), IMO.
the shop who did all my work were always VERY safe and conservative on any mods. i always thought they could've pushed the limits on the tune more.Your setup and tune are vastly more aggressive than theirs, I'd consider their tune and results 'safe' / bare-minimum. The overarching suggestion though, that they might be able to get more out of what they have, is certainly valid.
my shop dyno tuned my existing ECU.You say Dyno tune, is that with a programmer or new ECU?
Feel like charge pipe could be in this conversation with the intercooler
my shop dyno tuned my existing ECU.
that's my situation exactly. (minus the track part) Blessed to work from home, daily drive, with about 3k/year. Just having fun with it..Great questions.I don't take it to the track and probably never will. It's my daily driver, but I typically work from home and drive about 3k miles annually. I agree with what you said about the sweet spot and performance, but I'm always looking for more.
it WAS Blood Type Racing in Glenview, IL , but they only do tuning now, no parts installs or anything else.Who is your shop?
I am piggy baking this thread. I want to do a tune, possibly JB4 with or without an air intakeYour setup and tune are vastly more aggressive than theirs, I'd consider their tune and results 'safe' / bare-minimum. Quick question since I am new to this and seems like your pretty good at it. I want to do a JB4 mod and injen intakes. The dealer said I could do the intakes without voiding my warranty and I would like to do a JB4 that can be taken off when I go into service so not voiding it. The car only has 100 miles on it 2023 GT2 RWD. Will I get any improvements doing a JB4 tune without other mods and will I be able to take it off without them knowing about it. If I do get performance increase what can I expect without other mods? Thanks for the help.I have an AWD 2019 Kia Stinger GT. My main performance mods are…Injen intake, Magnaflow exhaust, Dyno tune (for 93 octane). I dyno’d 395whp/429wtq after those mods. What I love about my setup is I just jump in my Stinger, push the start button and go. I don't have to do anything at all. Just make sure I put 93 in the tank. No hassle. No issues. But, I'd of course like more power and would love to add another 50-100whp if possible. I'm willing to spend up to $7,500 to pursue this goal, but I don't want to lose the no hassle operation I experience today.
Upgrading fuel systems, swapping stock internals, upgrading turbos, piggyback tunes and on and on gets pretty confusing. I'm thinking my goals are probably more a pipe dream than reality, but wanted to see what everyone here thought. Thx.
JB4 recommends intakes at least. Or if you don't want intakes then do just snorkels with some drop in filters. Or go big with snorkels and intakes. As for the JB4, it NEEDS spark plugs. Don't cheap out, get HKS. You didn't buy a gt2 to cheap out on a pretty important part of performance modification. Small price to pay for peace of mindI am piggy baking this thread. Yes I knew about the spark plugs. I was going to do the Injen intakes and snorkels and plugs. That will not void the warranty. Question is can I quickly disconnect the JB4 before I go to the dealership for services then plug it back in afterwards ? Also wondering if check engine light will come on ? Once you get the initial install done, and especially if you get the optional PnP fuel wire adapters, you can take it off or put it back on in about 5 minutes.Yes I knew about the spark plugs. Check engine light should not come on if you did everything correctly. So will you take out only the JB4 unit or all of its wires as well? Because I'm pretty sure the techs could spot all the additional noodles everywhere.Yes I knew about the spark plugs. I was going to do the Injen intakes and snorkels and plugs. The only wire that is not easy to remove is the OBD2 wire, which you don’t have to have. It allows the jb4 to log more parameters and clear codes but otherwise doesn’t add to performance. There are ways to route that wire so it isn’t seen unless someone is really looking for it. Awesome Thanks for taking the time to explain. I will have to look into the PnP fuel wires. So it can be done is what your saying. The services are every 7 k but they say to do them every 6 k to not go over 7 accidentally because that can also void the warranty. Have you ever had any issues running the JB4? I hear it makes the motor actually run better and more efficlient. The only wire that is not easy to remove is the OBD2 wire, which you don’t have to have. You could always have the oil services done at a local mechanic or oil change shop, they don't care one bit about what might be on the car, and it still protects the warranty. Hah, No I am in the USA. Im not sure about me referencing Km but maybe just a mistake. Anyhow that's a good idea. They say if the oil changes are not done by them it can void the warranty but I call bullshit.. Thanks for all the help with is. I actually talked with a Tune shop and they said they wouldn't even put a Injen intake on my car because it was not legal in CA. I will have to do it myself then start from there. You could always have the oil services done at a local mechanic or oil change shop, they don't care one bit about what might be on the car, and it still protects the warranty. Not sure where you are from, likely not the US since you are measuring distance in Km. At least in the US, I could prove that oil changes were done by buying the stuff at a local auto parts store and keeping the receipts and doing the oil changes myself.
