Base upper front grille on GT1?

So I'm pretty sure I figured out what happened. But I want to get some opinions. Based on the minor damage to the front bumper I believe the previous owner broke the upper front grill. I then think he ordered a grill, and got the wrong one. The base model. Which has a all black center and regular chrome around the edges. He then spray painted the chrome black to try to make it blend in. I ordered a new GT1 grill because I don't like the spray painted Chrome. I wanted to match the rest of the black chrome on the vehicle. To my surprise when I opened up the box with the new grill in it the center insert looks totally different than what's on my car. So, I like the style of the base insert because it matches the lower grill. I don't think I care for the GT1 style grill. Blasphemy? I think I'm just going to swap the black chrome over to the Base grill and call it a day. Thoughts?

IMO, not blasphemy at all. Go with what you like--this is a very subtle change, and no one will likely know the difference. Even if someone does notice, it's not worth worrying about. Personally, I wouldn't worry about matching the rest of the black chrome. There is already different varieties of black on the car, including gloss black on the hood vent-things. Honestly, given the choice, I would have replaced all of the black chrome with gloss or satin black, with body colored side mirrors, but again the change is very subtle and not worth pursuing for me.

Not sure where you live, but around here, Stingers are rare sightings and I imagine most onlookers (gawkers?) are distracted by far more pronounced design features than the pattern and surround of the grille.

I prefer that blacked out look to the GT2 grille with the odd camera/radar sensor in it and the black chrome trim. It is annoying to keep clean. I’d keep it as is and black out the chrome on the lower grille to match.

I vote to install the OE GT1 grille and go with the OE dark chrome look where it comes with it. GT2 owners, and any trim with the front camera, don't have the option that you are asking for an opinion about: they have that thinly disguised solid rectangle front and center.
