AWD vs RWD

At first I was going to go with RWD because of the whole "fun to drive" thing, but I think I'd rather have something that's better for all weather types plus I use the hell out of my heated steering wheel and I want it in my next car. When I finally get a Stinger, it'll be an AWD variant.

Is the launch control feature AWD only? Or is it available in the RWD also?

The 18s are an option. the default is still the 19s with summer tires.
Per my dealer, there is no 19" option with summer tires if you get AWD.

Many AWD cars that are RWD based suffer a slightly higher ride height (a inch or two). Doesn't sound tremendous, but to me it produces a really conspicuous wheel arch gap, and it also suggests slightly sloppier handling because of the higher center of gravity. I didn't think the Stinger had this issue based on most of the pictures I saw, but now that I've seen there one out front at the dealer I'm not so sure.

Your dealer is wrong. 19in is standard no matter whether you get AWD or RWD. You can see for yourself on the Kia website. There also is someone on here who wanted the AWD with the 18in tire and they were told it would be a while before that came out because the majority are just being manufactured with the 19s.

Yeah, that's not my idea of fun. My wife has a lead foot, too. I'm trying to decide between if I want AWD or the Advanced Driver Assistance (or neither). I'm more worried about my wife's need for speed.
I will never buy a car again without the driver assistance stuff. Anything that can hit the brakes for me and help me not run a kid over, or rear end someone or whatever help I can get is something I want. Not to mention it will be mandatory equipment pretty soon and cars without will lose that much more value..

I thought launch control was only available in the RWD Stinger. Anybody?
I thought it was both. I seem to remember a press video where he used launch control and it was the AWD model. I might be wrong though.

Just a quick google search brought up several videos of launch control where the description says AWD.

It’s 100% available in AWD because that’s what I test drove last weekend and I played with the launch control a couple times. I loved the feature, but wasn’t sure if it was an AWD only feature or if it was in both

it's RWD based AWD...so that makes it better IMO than FWD based AWD. It's torque vectoring using brakes...so that's a drawback. If you resell it, more people geographically (up north) might be interested, so it may be easier to unload if that's ever necessary. More mechanical Parts to break....but safer, so...less likely to damage body work. Heavier front end, so it won't corner as well in dry weather...but will corner better in inclement weather.

They are wrong. Pull up the website and show them.
I think you're right but the website also says the Stinger comes with a Continuum Transfunctioner so we might need to take anything listed with that proverbial grain of salt...

That is true. Haha. There is one at the dealer here in MN with AWD 19" wheels and summer tires..

It sounds like all these dealers that are saying the AWD comes with 19" tires don't actually have them yet. And that's funny. Those summer tires aren't going to do a lot of good up there lol.

My dealer has one with 19s and AWD in his building. And yes those summer tires would suck here right now. That's how I know they were the 19s we had a long talk about how I would immediately need to drop at least another 2k on wheels and tires so I could drive it home.

Right, because we all know KMA Marketing engineered that option out!
