Sooooo here's the dealio. I prefer RWD, but they are hard to find now days. I've had many RWD sports sedans (M5, E55, etc)

Black/Red GT2 AWD lined up locally - I love the car, don't love the AWD
Ceramic Silver/Red GT2 RWD about 8 hours away - I love the color, I love the RWD w/ LSD. It's the color combo I've been wanting for a year.

The problem? I am comfortable with the local deal, as I know the guys personally and I know they won't pull anything. The deal 8 hours away, let's face it. Dealers are generally not honest people. They could care less about my money, and more about the dealerships money (that really isn't theirs either lol). I'm affriad that if I drive 8 hours to get the car they will pull something like "your trade isn't exactly as described", or "we made a mistake on the taxes", etc.

Would you risk that, and lose the Black/Red GT2 AWD locally that I'm 100% comfortable. I don't mind taking risks, but playing with money and luck isn't something I enjoy doing.

Mate, sometimes it’s better to stick with people you know and trust. If your heart says RWD then are you in that much of a hurry that you can not order a RWD GT through your local dealer. Here in Australia I have gotten a new car from a dealership that is 9 hrs away from where I live but I visited them to order the new car and settled on the trade in price of my new car there and then so there was no dramas. In your case you have a added grey area of what they think about your car when they see it in the flesh. Good luck with your decision mate,if they had the AWD Stinger here in Australia I would grab one tomorrow(hoping they wake up and bring it here next year some time).

Morry,
Thanks for your opinion. I am struggling a bit here with the decision. They are close friends of mine, and previous coworkers, while it's my money and the car that I'm driving for the upcoming years...I certainly don't want to purchase the wrong one! I think I'll play it safe, and go after the GT2 AWD locally, where I know nothing bad will come of it! The taxes in my state are extremely confusing (GA) and horror stories are everywhere about leasing a car out of state, and having the bank reject, or the local state reject registration due to errors.

I also wanted a RWD version but with low inventory and due to the fact that we might get bad weather and I don't have somewhere to store the snows, I opted for the AWD version.

Do you wish you had gone RWD? We don't see bad weather, but I'm sure when we do, the AWD will be welcome!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Have you asked your local dealer to execute a dealer trade to bring in the RWD car you want? Pursue that route.

Otherwise, buy the AWD and get the PresserTech tune I have. You'll have so much HP/TQ that your AWD will feel like the RWD version, only with even more power!

AWD still gives you a rear biased power distribution 40-60 in comfort mode and 20-80 in sport mode so you still get that RWD feel. I prefer the AWD for this platform because it gives you zero drama acceleration in almost all conditions which is what I want from a proper sport sedan.

Welp...I guess it's AWD for me then! I did try the Sport Mode, couldn't really tell a different but I wasn't pushing the car to be honest. It's not mine, so I'm not going to rag it out.

Get the car you really want so you don’t have any regrets - have the dealer execute a trade as was mentioned if possible.

The other dealer won’t trade the car, and give up hold back.

I wouldn't get one that I don't want. I'd rather wait it out than settle.

You'll end up having regrets. Maybe not immediately but definitely months from now when you see the car you really wanted on the road or at a dealership.

Sir, I’m the most indecisive car buyer in the world...I’ll be in the ground before I find the “right” car

You said yourself that you don't like that the car is AWD and the car you really want is 8 hours away.

Neither may be the "right" car but one has a feature you'd rather not have. The other has everything you want and is what you've been waiting on.

So take a road trip to get what you want (at the risk of wasting a third of a day and a tank of gas) or stay local and settle for something that you don't really want.

It's your choice, I was just giving you my opinion and which option I'd go with.

I appreciate the reply, and your opinion! I was nearly being scarstic.

Given the circumstances, and the fact that the dealer 8 hours away seems a bit...sketch I’m going to snag the AWD. Nothing wrong with it, at the end of the day I think I’ll truly like the AWD. I’ve requested paperwork for an entire day on the one 8 hours away and they keep dodging the answer, and not telling me the numbers. I’m not going to burn a bridge here, to get burned up there. The dealer near me is really working on this with me. I took the car for an entire weekend, and they’ve let me take many before that while my optima gets serviced.

Congrats! I’m glad you made a decision and inked a deal - I’m still trying to do both myself :)

What exactly are you looking for? I can see if they’ve got another one. I know they have a black on black GT2 AWD. I’m sure they’d love to get it off their lot

I’m up in Minnesota - so WAY far away! I want an AWD GT2 Ceramic Silver or White w/ red interior...at least 10% off MSRP with $8700 lease cash and minimal fees :D

For what it’s worth - My initial goal was $525/mo for 3yr/36K with nothing down (1% of MSRP) but that doesn’t seem to be in the cards.

That's a hard car to find right now! I didn't find a single one. I do know, where a Ceramic Silver GT2 RWD sits :)

most Porsche 911s sold are AWD , its not for driving in snow or bad weather ! with the GTs rear wheel bias you'll love the feeling with controll and safety as a benefit
