Just got a Panthera Metal 22 GT2. I noticed that they removed the Aux port. Not that I will miss it, but its gone. I also wish there was a 12v plug in the center storage console. (I may add one which should be easy since there is one for the back seat right behind it.). In case it isn't obvious, the thing on the far left a USB-C charger that I put in the cigarette lighter adapter location.IMG_6332.jpeg

Well, that rots; I was planning on buying a portable CD player for listening to Floyd from a lossess digital source when I upgrade to a Stinger. :-(
Does the head unit recognize WAV files or any other lossless formats from USB media?

I think I read that the head unit will be updated to be able to play the new Microsoft WMA format. Crossing my fingers for that.

What did they replace the port with a blank plate? Or is there USB-C up front now finally?

You can get USBA or USBC to audio jack adapters they don't require drivers so it possible it could work for you.

Post a pic please of your post/plug area

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Also, how is the Volume level on terrestrial Radio now? I have a '19 and can only use volume level 1-4. 5-45 are too loud to use.

I never even noticed the aux port wasn't there! I play lossy formats over Bluetooth so obviously fidelity isn't super important. Any idea what DAC the previous years used?

For anyone who has to use ogg or flacc you can plug your phone in via USB and use VLC or something.

Kinda wondering the same thing. I have been using wireless carlay (with a carlinkit 2). But I wonder if I pullged in a thumb drive with something lossless if it would make a difference?

That would depend on what codecs the car supports. I've only tried MPEG layer 3 on mine, and Bluetooth for anything I play over VLC (I listen to MineCraft oggs, judge me if you'd like).

The 22 plays FLAC. I just tried it. Sounded quite good with the HK system as a matter of fact.

F*******ck...

I waited till the refresh to get my stinger but all these downgrades are leaving me a little sour

They removed the sunglasses holder, they axed the G-Force meter, and now with my bluetooth disconnecting I find they deleted the AUX port as well. WTF KIA? These are all features I was looking forward to using, really disappointing that they're gone while the price of the car went up.

What other rollbacks am I going to find?

No wonder I could never get the g-force thing to show up... I guess it isn't there.

Wasn't it apple that started the trend with headphone jack removal? Blame them.

The sunglass holder... Agreed... It's just empty space up there.

FWIW, for the last decade i've used a usb flash drive for all my media. That trend appears to continue with the stinger. At least it reads wav and flac now. No ape though.

You can't install Linux on it anymore either. :p

I believe I read somewhere or it was a review I watched, but they stated the the sunglasses holder was removed to make room for the UVO system that is now available on the 2022 models. Which gives us all the remote access features from the phone.

Canadians have UVO with sunglasses holder in 21. All you need is a 3G/LTE chip, a SIM card, and a connection to the CANBUS. Iit's all in the radio AFAIK.

They changed the system completely in 22. Different system, even a different app.

The app might be different but without a source I have doubts the hardware requirements are any different.
