• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia Bi-Modal Exhaust Updates

T
Ok grip cat back I get it!
The goods stuff from my research. Quality car, quality exhaust. Not that theres anything wrong with the bimodial . For me it was a toss up between jun.bl and ark grip cat back. Not going the EVC though.

OK, i have not asked AAMI about the bi-modal exhaust, but im quite confident, that it should not be an issue, such as with your experience. I have had car insurance with AAMI for 20 years, no issues.

My Stinger is the third time I have used AAMI. That said im not overly happy that the policy states i use their choice of repairer after a less than great experience with my wifes mazda having to go back to rectify their work.
Have you had experience with their nominated repairer or been allowed to choose your own? I want to ensure 5 star workmanship should my Stinger ever need repair work.

An Insurer cannot force anyone to go through their own recommended repairer network. It would contravene Competition and Consumer Laws.

All they say is it takes much longer to assess and repair your car if you choose your own repairer.

I have used AAMI recommended repairers , no major issues, but if you insist on choosing your own repairer, just ask them, im not sure , but i think you can provide AAMI a repair quote from the repairer of your choice.

Has anyone had this issue?
I rang my insurance company (Budget Direct) on Tuesday to let them know that I've had the KMA (Kia Motors America) Bi-Modal exhaust fitted amongst other accessories. I was informed that they had to forward it to their underwriter (Auto and General Insurance) because it's not on their option list. They got back to me today to tell me the underwriter will no longer be able to cover me as it's a modification, even though it's a KMA (Kia Motors America) option and I have 7 days to seek alternative cover. I will get cover from other underwriters but this has really got me pissed, I've been with them for 6 years.
I also want to let others know to avoid someone having their claim/insurance refused because of it.
Picked up my new Snow White Pearl/Black Nappa on Friday 19/5 and called CGU Insurance prior to arrange cover. It's dealer fitted with Bi-modal exhaust, floor mats, paint protection film and window tint. CGU regarded the exhaust as an accessory and did not need to list it. They did however want to list the mats and tint. Therefore, no issues with insurance. CGU is part of Insurance Australia Group (IAG) which owns brands NRMA, SGIO, SGIC, Swann, and Westfarmers.

Thanks for that Shannon c, since then I have gone with the RACV who have no problem with the Kia Bi-Modal. They are a little dearer but I guess it’s worth the extra.

Good job. By default, RACV has an association with IAG through IMA (Insurance Manufacturers of Australia) as IAG owns 70% of IMA and RACV owns 30%. RACV is regarded as a distributor of the product and IMA "manufacturers" policies for the entire Group so underwriting guidelines are typically similar.

Hate to throw a spanner in the works but listen to this!
What was that knocking noise? Is that the Bi-modial exhaust?

That is just an exhaust sound booster added to the factory exhaust activated via a valve. No real performance gain from it. Just a different sound.

Hello Guys, (I live in the Middle East - Gulf)

I've made an order with payment for the 2019 Kia Stinger a month ago, it's expected to arrive early August. And I've added most of the option I could get my hands on. But unfortunately I couldn't add Bi-Model Sport Exhaust System. I don't know why!
I'm getting the car ordered and customized from Korea, I should be able to add Bi-Model Exhaust Option there before it arrives, am I mistaken? .. The annoying thing is that the country beside me (Bahrain) they have the same Bi-Model Exhaust as the one in Australia!!

Anyways, can any body try to let me know if I'm able to purchase it and shipped to me?

Thanks.

Wouldn’t it be easier to purchase one in Bahrain?

Should be cheaper regarding delivery too.

In Australia they cost $ 2,600 AUS supplied and fitted.

Can't help you on that point. In Australia, the exhaust is a dealer fitted option to replace the factory standard.
