• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia Bi-Modal Exhaust Updates

It's the other way around you will have to prove it. My previous car a Renault I made minor mods to it and the dramas I went thru to get items fixed its just not worth the heartache and time waste with service centres.
Unfortunately im just going to have to wait it out.
Well the dealer would have to submit a technical reason as to why they wouldn’t warrant an issue based on the mods you did. On another note the minor mods to the Renault was it to get to function properly...lol

Coincidentally I received an email from my dealer today saying that it won’t be available until late March.
It reads as follows;

“Given that product quality is paramount to our Kia Genuine Accessory development, and that Kia Motors Australia will proudly support this exhaust with its 7 Year Unlimited Km Warranty when purchased and fitted as part of the new vehicle sale process, Kia Motors Australia have to delay the release of the Kia Stinger Bi-Modal Exhaust.

This is due to a manufacturing issue where the Bi-Modal exhaust does not meet with our fitment requirements that we require of all Kia Accessories. Kia Motors understand that this delay is an inconvenience and they are working with the supplier to have this issue rectified as a matter of urgency.

We expect that the Bi-Modal Exhaust to be readily available late March.”

I heard the same from my dealer about it being ready at the end of March. I asked him what happened and he said the brackets were the problem not the exhausts themselves.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
It’s got emissions issues that’s why not fitment.

I thought the exhaust came after the catalytic converter so emissions would not be a problem??

Thanks for the info. The dealer I bought my car from does not have any details regarding bi modal exhaust availability. I've been waiting since December 2017 and my Stinger NEEDS the rumble!!

My Stinger GT lands end of March, the dealer reckons that the first batch of the bi-modal systems were faulty and they had to be removed and sent back as the programming wasn't up to spec. Hope its not too far off!

Welcome @Azza Jarvis to our forum, there are a few Aussies, including myself , waiting to hear this bi-modal exhaust in person, my dealership tells me they will fit one too a demo Stinger, hope it arrives soon.
Also, where in Australia are you from, if you click on your username , top of page, then in the drop down menu click on "Personal Details", scroll down a little , under the location , it would be nice to type in where your from, Thanx.

Yea I'm Sydney. Just concerned about the 7yr warranty if you go with a third party system?
Well, I am sure Kia will not cover a third party system, the bi-modal exhaust is an official Kia Accessory, so it is covered under the warranty, im guessing if you as an owner add a third party system, that is on you if something goes wrong with it, but what can go wrong with an exhaust system? BUT, if it is proven that your third party system has in some way caused a problem to a part of the car covered by warranty, lets say for example the motor, Kia will not fix the motor under warranty.
If I am incorrect, please add your knowledge or opinion.

The only thing that will not be covered would be the aftermarket exhaust.

An exhaust will not damage the engine..

Agree with you, the exhaust will not damage the engine, and is not covered under Kia warranty.

I had this hypothetical with my brother in law who's a new car salesman and he straight out said once they know you have gone third party on parts they will do everything in their power not to warrant anything under warranty. If you exhaust is giving you performance it will effect everything on your car.

We have purchased a series 1 release of a brand new car at this stage I wouldn't risk a thing.

It is freaking annoying how nobody knows when this thing will be released, like seriously does KIA not talk to their manufacturer. It's an exhaust that was supposed to be released at Xmas it's now March. If I hear nothing back in the next few weeks I'll be asking for a refund.

When i ordered the Stinger the bi-modal exhaust was included in my paperwork, i recently had it removed, and will be notified when the dealership fits one to a demo Stinger, but exactly like you mentioned @TJRaider , was expecting it to be ready by Xmas, and now looks like we may even wait until April.

I picked my car up in December and the dealer advised me to wait until the exhaust was available before ordering it. I’m glad I waited.

Given all these delays, definitely leaning towards an after market option. Especially, if there is an option to switch between modes.
