I ordered my Stinger a week ago and was looking forward to receiving it although there will be a wait. I ordered a 2021 model specifying if I was going to get a new car, I wanted the latest model. I also made sure they knew I wanted the bimodal exhaust. Everything went really well until I had a closer look at the order form. It says MY20 Stinger 2020. I will be ringing the salesman on Monday to clarify, but it looks like I’ve unknowingly signed up for last year’s model sans the exhaust. My fault for not reading the documents carefully, I agree, but am I misreading this or what? Advice please.

Firstay go back to the Salesperson you dealt with & show them the discrepancy & state that this was not was discussed or actually agreed too albeit you signed the contract, it may have been a typo/mistake on there part but if they say bad luck that would mean to me that they are trying to stiff you.
You have rights but you will have to seek legal advice, they didn’t comply with your request of an MY21, although I would doubt there are any MY20’s left in the country as there seems to be a demand for the Stinger ATM
Have a read through this & seek legal advice if the dealer won’t give you what you asked for.

Thank you for that. You are correct in that it is unlikely there are any left in the country, but this suggests they are still producing MY20’s. The contract states: Compl date: 7/21
Build date: 6/21. This is what is confusing. If they have dudded me, it boils down to deceit and I’ll certainly be looking at legal advice, and going to the media.

If it talks about the compliance dates that are different, the contract contradicts itself and is void. I am sure they will sort it for you, they want to sell a car.

Thanks Greg. I was quite pleased with the service I received, so I’ll wait until I speak with them before I go into panic mode.

No problem, most new Stinger owners if not all of them that are joining the Kia Stinger Owners Australia/NZ Facebook site of late are all MY21 models, if the contract states build date 06/21 as you state suggests you will definitely get a 2021 build.

Thanks, that settles me a bit. I’m in enough trouble as it is with the better half for spending so much for “just a car”.

No problem, you can assure your better half that is not “just a car” they will be very impressed once you get it.

Welcome to the forums. Stinger GT SS’ advice is spot on as always. The only thing I would add is that if things do turn to shit, when you’re talking to the dealer don‘t raise the legal action/media option. You lose credibility immediately. But I’m pretty sure things will sort themselves out here.

Thanks I’ll Have Another. I’ll keep that I’m mind.

If the build date is 6/21 then it will be MY21 facelift so I don't see any reason for concern.

Maybe the MY20 was just a typo by the dealer. If you were adamant you wanted the latest model, can’t see why he would then sign you up for the previous model.

They know so little don’t they, the better halfs.

I just purchased a 2020 MY21 that was built in the last month of 2020 so it came with newer wheels, bigger infotainment screen. sports exhaust standard.and diferent tail lights. After i bought it the car yards where still selling 2020 MY20 modals as new. Unfortunately now a days we really have to do our home work before buying anything.

Thanks @Mickben. I’ve been in touch with the dealers and they assure me it’s a 2021 I will be getting. However if it had the bigger info kit and the bi-modal exhaust and was a 2020 badge, I would probably be happy.

Through, I have a MY21 and my build date is 9/20
