• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Aussie 200Si and 330Si No More

Is this on the inboard side of the driver's footwell, right next to the transmission in the "tunnel?
I think so , I remember @Ozstung also provided photos last year showing the heater pipe.

Thanks DC, yes it's the heater core pipe, when touched it left blisters on my fingers and melted the construction glue when new, the fumes were over powering.

On a overcast 23c day under my car port I started up my car for awhile and took this cabin reading.20180201_173222.webp

Smart move IMO - the mid spec was a waste of time.

Can't say a heated steering wheel is a selling point here in Queensland. Maybe they are standardizing/reducing part inventory worldwide.

Which makes me wonder.... are there any MY19's with the heated steering wheels that aren't electrically connected?

Makes total sense as the vast majority of Stinger sales have been for the top 2 3.3TT V6 trims.

Can't see sales of the base engine improving until the 2.0T gets replaced by the new 2.5T.

That won't really help down here, because the price difference between a 2.0T and the 3.3TT is only ~$5k. If they charge more for the 2.5T than the 2.0T, that will only make the issue worse.

Is that actually confirmed for Australia? I'm still to see a confirmed listing of the changes for MY20 vehicles in Australia.
It’s on the Kia website just look at the GT model and go through the lists of accessories and features

I was told by a dealer they have also added more sound proofing to the MY20 model.
Good to see another Central Coast member on here. What colour & spec did you get?

There are now listing a police-specific model on some listings (for car leasing for example).
Nothing more than a marketing technique.

There is no police specific model, there is no difference between what the police drive and the stock version with the exception of an additional custom wiring loom added by Kia to run the police specific equipment and a full sized spare tyre. Also they haven’t been in service with the police long enough to already be on the market for resale as a police specific model. They’re generally kept for 100,000km before they’re turned over.

Part of the issue is that the base model is too expensive - it just isn't going to draw people in at the price point (someone said they paid over $60k drive away for a 2.0L MY19 recently, and that's insane).
OMG..especially when I paid $59,000 for GT with bimodal

Drive-away in Sydney (postcode 2000):

200S: $51,746.50
GT-Line: $61,296.50
330S: $54,896.50
GT: $66,021.50

Some interesting things here:

The upgrade from 200S to 330S is $3,150.
Upgrade from GT-Line to GT is $4,725
You can get a 330S with the 3.3L twin turbo engine cheaper than you can get a 2.0L GT-Line (and the 330S is hardly povo-pack).

People are getting the GT for less than $60k drive away, but nobody's getting $6k off the price of a 200S I am sure.

If the 200S was ~45k drive-away (and Kia bothered to market the bloody thing), that'd really throw the cat in amongst the pigeons. That'd land it in the top-spec 2.5L 4-cylinder Camry range, and well within the price range of the mid-spec V6 Camry - and the 2.0L Stinger is a much better car (albeit less powerful than the V6 Camry).

I don't have an issue with the price of the GT (or 330S), but the 200S price (and GT-Line) need to drop for Kia to really start selling these cars. If they cut $5k off each of the 2.0L models, I think they'd have a real hot potato - they're just not selling them at present.

That's only showing in leasing company price books - and it's for new cars, not second hand, so nothing to do with police cars rolling off their duty (which you'd not be able to lease anyway due to age/kms).

I'd be surprised if there isn't a "police spec" car, as there was for Commodores (FE2 suspension and steel wheels) and Falcons before - as you said, the police get a few options with their Stinger that aren't available to retail buyers.

There is no police spec. Any additional fittings in the vehicles sold to police wouldn’t be in stock versions available to leasing companies and any equipment fitted is removed before they’re sold after the police contract expires. The engines are stock, the brakes are stock, the Brembos don’t need changing, and neither does the suspension. Other than what I mentioned in my previous post the only other addition would be an extra battery or a larger than stock battery to run all of the police equipment.

As for the old Commodore & Falcon, they were completely stock as well. FE2 suspension was stock, I had it on my 2003 VY S. It was standard on the SS, and as for steel wheels they haven’t used them on base model cars leased to police since the late 90’s early 2000’s. They’ve been running stock alloys for a long time. All police vehicles in service are stock as far as the engines are concerned, some models might have an upgraded brake package due to the way they are driven. There are some specialist vehicles that may have certain upgrades that I won’t mention on here but a guarantee they aren’t available to the public and they’re removed before the vehicle is returned for auction.

Holden were the only company in Australia to make a truly police spec vehicle and they never marketed or sold it in Australia, it was for the US market and branded Chevy PPV. They stopped making them when the factory shut down.

Like I said, if it’s being advertised on a leasing site it’s a marketing gimmick, nothing more.

Given you don’t have a Stinger maybe drop some money on that so called police spec if you’re so sure it’s something different, but when you do can you post a pic of your facial expression shortly afterwards when you realise you’ve just been duped into buying a stock 330S with nothing more than a fancy title. :p

Seriously mate leave it at that, I’m sick of repeating myself, believe whatever the hell you want to.

It is nothing to do with marketing. It is a feed that the leasing companies take from the market. I'm sure they don't even realise they have it there.

How do you know any better? Do you have an inside line on this, or just an assumption (which then is no more or less valid than mine)?

If it's the former, great - I am happy to be wrong - I was just reporting what the sites are showing.
