KIA posted their August numbers and the 1480 were sold bringing the total US sales to 11,624 for the year.

Yep. Hanging right in there, steady and slow. I think the sales are healthy enough. Over 12K total since they came out last year.

3rd consecutive month of declining Stinger sales. Wonder if it will survive more than a couple more model years? Perhaps that’s why Kia are excellerating release of more SUVish Proceed? Neither Hyundai or Kia seem to be able to figure out more premium US car market. Genesis sales are tanking too. Time for them to release a premium SUV!

They are selling enough Stingers to justify the model. But SUVs are definitely the preferred way to go for most buyers.

Genesis has GV80 SUV coming out next year. Wonder what has delayed G70 release originally planned for this summer. Still isn’t available yet at dealers. Think G70 will take some wind out of Stinger sales.

There's been a ton of dealer and franchising issues. Hopefully that'll be sorted out soon.

It's quite possible Stinger sales are slowing now because people know 2019 is getting closer. I wouldn't buy a 2018 at this point when the missing features are coming.

I would if I didn't care about the additional features enough to offset a dealer's deal. I reckon 2018s will be slashed impressively. So if anything, once the MY19 arrives total Stinger sales ought to spike for a month or two as the last of the MY18s sell off "for a song".

I thought it was the 4th consecutive month?

Regardless, Kia is weird. They sell like 4.5 heavily discounted K900s a year and they just released it's 2nd generation. Go figure.

Indeed, Hyundai and Kia are behind the SUV curve, even though cars like the Optima are doing pretty well (sales are up YOY thus far). That said, both brands have a slew of new SUV-like vehicles coming out sooner than later.

If Kia is serious and can keep to a long-term marketing plan, they'll keep the Stinger around for a long, long, time. It's a branding tool, and it's also a margin vehicle unlike the Rio and Soul. The Stinger also helps move Kia's ASP of $25k north, which is a big deal when Ford and GM are pushing $40k per sale average! There is margin in them trucks and SUV's!!! (yes, I said "them" on purpose) ; )

If you look at Hyundai and Kia, Hyundai has moved towards a Toyota-like brand. Kia is more alongs the old Pontiac "we build excitement" brand. No, not plastic NASCAR-Pontiac-like, but still, it's the more sporty of the two brands for sure.

Long-term if Genisis continues it's long term plans to be branded as independent of Hyundai, they are pushing against Mercedes, while Kia could potentially grow their high-end vehicles into a BMW competitor-like brand, with the Stinger eventually leading the way.

That's quite possible they could go up a little. You would think that inventory has probably been decreasing though. I know for me, I'm not worried about the deal. I'm just not buying a car without a 360 camera. After having used it on my other vehicles, I won't be purchasing a vehicle without one. Well, unless it was something rare like an NSX or something like that. Any vehicle I'm daily driving, needs it.

I just read the Car and Driver new cars issue. According to them, no changes for the 2019 Stingers.

No that has to be false!!! LIES, ALL LIES I’ll tell you!! LIES!!
According to what I've seen here and another Stinger BLOG, some - what look to be - completely legitimate print-outs of the feature changes.

GT1 & 2: Wireless Charging.
GT: Drivers Assist Warning & BlindSpot standard & LSD standard
Premium: More goodies

So it appears that what they are packaging into the Standard Configs is different, perhaps a bit more overall, and the Drive Wise package and such have changed a bit. One had a Sunroof standard I believe? Can't recall, but it's been re-configured for the 2019's a wee bit.

I do not believe Car & Driver's latest issue is spot on with their assessment. I have not read it, but perhaps C&D is talking to no all-new configurations, and no major new features? That would pretty much be accurate. Depends what they said and how they said it I suppose...
