Aug - Best US Sales in 2019

wow , that Telluride is on FIRE ! Good for you Kia ! , would be nice to see the decline of the Stinger level out

They can't keep the Telluride's on the lots long enough.

What "decline of the Stinger?" Sedans generally were lower in 19 than last year. I think the Stinger has been doing alright. August is surprisingly good.

The Stinger has continued to outsell the G70 in the US, Canada and Australia despite being an older model (think the cramped rear was a mistake).

But int the Korean market, the G70 (1,471) continues to far outsell the Stinger (262); the K9 also continues to far outsell the Stinger over there, and the FL Cadenza is selling like gangbusters.

Interesting to see that the Forte and Optima are still such big sellers. Take that, SUVs! :p

One of those is mine :D

Kia are doing well in Australia of late.

May 2019: 5533 vehicles, up from 5500 in May 2018. 5th brand overall. 157 Stingers.
June 2019: 7200 vehicles, up from 7067 in June 2018. 5th brand overall. 200 Stingers.
July 2019: 4506 vehicles, up from 4403 in July 2018. Slipped to 6th brand overall. 124 Stingers.
Aug 2019: 4662 vehicles, up from 4620 in Aug 2018. 6th brand overall. 172 Stingers.

This is against a downward trending industry year on year - So Kia is really doing well. June is the last month of the financial year here and generally sees a bump in sales with EOFY deals. July and August are traditionally slow months for the local car market.

It's interesting to note that Kia sold more Stingers in four months than Infiniti sold cars (total, across all models) in 12 months in Australia. Kinda explains why Infiniti are dying and pulling out of the market here.

The price gap (and that back seat & 10 cu ft trunk) kept me from seriously pursuing the G70.

Followed by September sales that didn’t even hit 1000.

September was apparently a bad month across the board. FCA sales down 10%, Ford down 12%, Toyota/Lexus down 17%, etc. Tough to do well with a niche model when even brands like Toyota are down.

I was going to suggest the numbers were so bad because of anticipation for 2020s arriving but comparing Sept 2019 numbers to Sept 2020 numbers shows a huge drop-off from 18 to 19. This definitely isn't a good sign for the Stinger.

What's also concerning is that Kia hasn't even announced if/when 2020 Stingers will arrive in the U.S. They're already for sale in Canada and Australia. But somehow even newer models of Stinger (GTS) in the U.S. are still being sold as 2019s.

Infiniti sales were down 43.9% for September. Every single vehicle they sell was down for the month of September. Most were at all time lows.

They sold less than 100 QX30 vehicles in September. That is appalling.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see my local Infiniti dealership close up their sales department in the future. That is why I am looking to unload both of my Infiniti vehicles right now.

Minus 10 internet points for subjective opinionating ...
I was 100% stinger but could not find a RWD to test drive. Then the G70 Came out (did not care for it at the reveal) but in person loved it and with all the features that was wanted in the Stinger, so I bought one. It's a little shorter. Sorry this is the stinger forum we are all cousins.

It's all good, man - if you got what you wanted, that's all that counts! Glad you're enjoying your car!
