No no no I’m not doubting the speed capable of the stinger platform I am (1) confused by the information I have read about an AWD speed limiter at 135mph bc AWD comes with 18” wheels and all weather tires etc etc and (2) curious about the gearing of the transmission because I would expect the RPM’s to be higher at 150+ mph. I have never and probably will never take my stinger to that speed. Did you happen to look at your RPMs when you were at 155mph?Why do you doubt that AWD goes as fast as Kia advertises? I've taken my AWD to 155 MPH and it was still pulling c. 1 MPH per second. In 7th gear.
The max speed cap is assigned by the tires the car came with. A/S on a square 18" wheel setup got reduced to 140 MPH (even 130 MPH, it changed at some point).
153mph would be between 4100-4200 rpm in 8th, which is right about where the rpm is in the picture. I was interested in having the gear ratios and how 150mph@4k RPM is possible explained to me with crayons please
Data is beautiful. Thank you153mph would be between 4100-4200 rpm in 8th, which is right about where the rpm is in the picture.
Attached is a screenshot of the Stinger gear ratios and tire size entered into a calculator.
Lol, no way! I was too focused on the up and down road surface while I did a crazy thing I'd never approached doing in my life. But if I were to say what impression I had of RPMs peripherally, it would have been somewhere between 4-5K (that chart agrees with that guess).Did you happen to look at your RPMs when you were at 155mph?
Pressed reply by mistake. But I’ll add I’ve had my AWD to 208Kph. It got there very quick and was pulling hard when I saw how fast I was going and let off. Don’t think I got out of 6th.Why do you doubt that AWD goes as fast as Kia advertises? I've taken my AWD to 155 MPH and it was still pulling c. 1 MPH per second. In 7th gear.

electronic limiter. I've been over 155 in "Mexico" and I was pulling about 1.5-2MPH per second Still. It would have very clearly gone over 167 if I had more road to use.I Know that Kia advertises that the RWD Stinger with Summer tires from the factory has a top speed of 167MPH. It's obvious from the chart above that it isn't a limit of the gearing, but the questions remains if it is an aerodynamic limit or is it an electronic limiter, or a combination of both?
What gear were you in at that speed?electronic limiter. I've been over 155 in "Mexico" and I was pulling about 1.5-2MPH per second Still. It would have very clearly gone over 167 if I had more road to use.
12th.What gear were you in at that speed?
to be honest, No idea. probably 7th if I had to guess. The car was in D and I was around 5200ish when I let off. What gear were you in at that speed?
7th gear is likely, then. I was surprised that acceleration pull was still that strong at that speed. Without the limiter, and given enough straight room, I think that the stock 3.3L Stinger would reach either side of 180 MPH.to be honest, No idea. probably 7th if I had to guess. well my car is not even close to stock which is probably why it was pulling the way it was. there are accounts of people on here doing similar runs where they where pulling around 1mph per second or so around that speed, which would make sense. I never could try though cuz my car was limited to 130 when it was stock.7th gear is likely, then. I was surprised that acceleration pull was still that strong at that speed. My '19 GT2 AWD came with 19" staggered wheels and tires.
