My thinking is that Kia will attempt to put the brakes (pun intended) on the process by basically refusing to issue the safety and emissions letter in a timely fashion. They can drag their feet for as long as they want.

Yep. A couple of recent ownership examples. Ultrasonic Blue paint available on the IS only in Canada. USB 2.0 later came to both countries. '15-'17 NX has available HUD and Adaptive Variable Suspension in Canada only.

I'm going to guess there's been long discussions over on the Lexus forums. Did anyone ever come to a conclusion as to why they do this?

Sure were and still are discussions, yet no conclusions. People are truly stumped and again, surprised Kia does this too.

Man, the angle of that photo makes the IS profile barely recognizable. The "Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0" became available on the IS F-Sports with the 2016 model year, although I'm not 100% sure if that's the same as what's in your photo.

Exactly, USB 2.0 finally arrived for the MY 2016. Mine was a 2014 with USB "1.0" which is a slightly lighter shade. 2.0 is below

Oh, that's hilarious. I thought you were talking about the universal serial bus (USB) ports; didn't realize it was an acronym for the color too. In retrospect, it's so obvious, but it initially seemed like you were just talking about two different features.

At least it isn't the Alfa Romeo Giulia's "IBS" (integrated brake system, not irritable bowel syndrome).

Nobody ever gets confused when talking about connecting Apple CarPlay or Android Auto? I guess there might be trouble if you mentioned USB 2.0!
