Hey everyone. I've narrowed down my choice of exhaust to Ark or Borla, both with Ark downpipes. However I can't choose which one would be best to live with. I want something loud, something that sounds like it would belong on a Stinger but not super obnoxious, raspy or sound like a fart can. Maybe another way to say it is to give it a European performance sound.

From the videos I've heard Ark sounds somewhat close to stock with a tiny bit more growl, Borla sounds good in some videos but sounds terrible and almost ricey in some but part of me feels like that sound doesn't belong on a Stinger.

If stock in terms of loudness is 1/10 where would you place ark+dp and borla+dp?

I've looked all over and can barely find any videos of ark exhaust with ark dp. The ones I did find sounded like stock with a little more growl. There's a few borla with dp. I've heard some borla with dp setups sound nice but others sound terrible, not sure how to explain it, best I can say it sounds like a fart can sometimes or it sounds very rough and low sounding.

Any video clips or advice is appreciated.

I have had my Borla (no downpipes) for about a month. It started out sounding a little tinny but as I have had it on there longer it sounds way better and has a deeper grumble. I don't have downpipes but I would say that for borla the sound has went from a 1 which is stock to about a 7.5. It's really difficult to get hear what the exhaust is going to sound like in person from watching youtube videos. Your options are just take the plunge and see what comes out or after this coronavirus shit passes then you try to find someone near you that has these setups to hear in person.

Yeah I definitely need to hear it in person. Some videos I hear just make the exhaust sound very very rough, sure it's not supposed to be a smooth sound but some video make it sound terrible.

The other issue I have with Borla is when people Rev the car, it gets very raspy as it goes higher in the rpms. Or is raspy not the right word? Like when people do quick revs with the exhaust, after they let go of the throttle we hear that loud "raspy" noise.

That’s what Borla is known for lol. I’ve noticed the same thing with videos of Stingers that have borla and downpipes. Even in the mustang world, Borla exhaust systems tend to be raspy.

I’m looking into possibly getting one of the multiple EVC catback exhausts for my Stinger to go along with my Ark downpipes but it’s hard to decide which one and the prices aren’t pretty either.

I’m buying new wheels/tires (20”) soon so exhaust is on hold for awhile.

If evc exhausts were cheaper I'd take a look to. I believe ark isn't as raspy since their exhaust isn't as loud. I did see a new one called quicksilver pop up on the forums, hoping to hear how that exhaust sounds as compared to these 2

Surely you’ve seen this video then right? I’ve heard the ark catback with stock downpipes/midpipes in person from a fellow Stingerforum member. It sounds nice and isn’t too loud.
I have just the ark downpipes with stock catback and his car really wasn’t that much louder, just had a different tone, surprising I know lol. Would love to hear ark catback and downpipes in person though.

Yeah I've seen that video. The catback alone is slightly louder then stock but not enough for me. Catback with dp sounds like it'd be a happy medium in terms of loudness. I've had thoughts of just getting borla with ark dp but I have no clue how loud that really is

From videos the Borla + dp seems to be a bit raspier & louder than the Ark + dp.

I have SSR down pipe with MBRP I know that’s not what you looking for but just keep in mind any set up you get when you change secondary it makes it louder. I also had just secondary alone and that made a nice note but MBRP gives it a louder more aggressive note.

See my video.

New MBRP Kia Stinger Exhaust video is now up! Check it out

Now only if someone made a comparison or Ark and borla in the same video...
If there is a place to get that exhaust comparison made, this would be it. Not sure there are going to be many car meets anytime soon though:(

These exhausts have been out for a good amount of time now I'm surprised no one has made that comparison...maybe someone can make that happen whenever people learn to stay at home haha
