I saw on the Stinger facebook group mention a set of drilled and slotted rotors for around $250. Anyone have any thoughts on these? There is a discount until the 20th and i'm thinking of just grabbing them. As long as they have similar performance to the OEM rotors I would definitely like to grab them also for aesthetics too. They have a black set but I guess someone said they fade and then stop looking as nice.

Kia 2018 Stinger Brake Rotors & Pads | R1 Carbon GEOMET® Series | R1concepts

I just ordered some for my 2020 AWD stinger.I had the eline rotors on my last car for 3 years plus and 20k miles and they worked great.KIA is going to put them on.The geomet is a step up from the eline and if they work as good--I will be happey. They felt like stock brakes on my last car--a very rare type r crosstour--and honda did the same thing KIA did--they put on a honda performance brake caliper and pad--but a stock rotor--once I upgraded a few things.Stopping distance was much sooner.Bad weather performance was way way better--they would bite even in bitter cold or in pouring rain--no slippage even when soaking wet.The old honda rotors shook when braking from high speed on the hwy(but car was very heavy)--the R1 eliminated that also. They were also quiet like stock brakes. Also the stopping power was so good--that the few times I had to emergency brake--the ABS never went on--the car just stopped. They looked great.Brakes were so good that yearly I tested them in snow to make sure the ABS was working and it was. Also 2 years ago going about 45 the guy in front of me slammed into the next guy--his car stopped--I hit the brakes and stopped 3 feet behind his bumper--no ABS came on--so it saved me from a wreck because of the power.I had the rotors on all 4s and the geomet are supposedly better.if you can wait I will have them installed and put a video up in the next few weeks.Igot all 4 rotors for 359$.The fact that we already have Brembo calipers and pads--these R1 should work fanatastic with our stingers. My experience--most of the folks that have problems have installed it themselves, I am going to let KIA do it, service advisor also is curious to do this and feels it will make a huge difference.Cons--my rims got a little dirtier with my last car--but I had absolutely no clue to what pads were on there--they were honda euro spec performance pads that they put on this car with the R1 rotors and a euro honda spec brake caliper.--seeing as only like 5 crosstour type R's were built--I have no idea.My crosstour was a 2010 that was an AHM--American honda motor car--that I bought directly from honda.I traded in the car 2 months ago, and KIA even complimented on the car.BTW my 10 year old honda braked slightly better then the new Stinger--so I had to upgrade and believe this will make the difference.I thought the stinger had Brembo brakes--but the rotors are not performance, which is misleading.I also lightly tracked my last car and had no fade--rotors after 3 years and 20k miles looked 95% new--pads with 20k miles were at 75% still. So the mix of honda type r euro brake calipers and pads with R1 rotors made a huge difference--and should do well on the stinger. It is hard to compare because my honda was made for me and I had no actual stats on the brake system other then it was a level 1 honda euro light track use brakes, But the rotors from R1 made a noticeable positive difference.

Beat you to it 2 weeks ago... when the rotors were finally restocked and shipped. Also has new Red Stuff pads. It's a great setup.

Looks great!

Does it give much improved feel over stock?

How's the initial bite? Does it feel like it has better stopping power? Or is it mostly for improved look and/or possible shudder?
How's the brake dust level compared to stock?

I'm thinking of getting some rotors and Red Stuff as well and wanted to get some feedback.

Thanks

I had them on my last car--they bite way better and still feel like stock brakes on the brake feel--yet bite better. They also--from what I experienced--work in rain or ice cold from the first time you hit them--they do not slip.I am geting the Geomet this time which are better rotors then the great elines I had.brake dust depends on pads--I am keeping the stock stinger pads since KIA said they are brembo pads-and brembo said they work well with cross drilled and slotted.I spray my car off at the end of each week--never noticed too much brake dust on my last car.

Agree with everything said here. I do notice some extra brake dust during the break-in period, approx 100-200 miles. But will then shed very light dust once the rotors and pads are set. I have used this set up on my last (4) vehicles with approx. 350-400hp with no fade issues, warped rotors, etc.

With the the weight, horsepower and acceleration of this car... it needs a brake upgrade, before engine upgrades, IMO.

We have sold a good handful of R1 rotors and pads and have great feedback from both the 2.0 and the 3.3 owners. These are definitely the most affordable rotors on the market. I would be more than glad to help you pick out a set and get you a discount on these as well. Just shoot me a question if you are interested and we can get them shipped to you asap!

So i'm going to be purchasing new rotors and pads. I have seen these pop up. I don't want to be buying cheap rotors but I also don't want to buy overly expensive ones if I don't need them. I will not being doing any racing, just spirited driving every now and then. This set of rotors has Optimum OEp Brake pads. I really want to avoid that annoying brake deposit issue I had in the past. I also don't want super noisy brakes. Does anyone have any suggestions for brake pads to go with these rotors?

I have R1 geomet and they are the best for the money.6 months now and I did not change the pads. The pads--if you have brembos are very good and I also have very little dust.I had R1 for a decade on my last car and never had a problem.Plus they are quiet and feel just like stock and bite harder.I also live in GA and had to drive thru that delta storm and we had 2 inches of water on the roadway and the brakes had zero fade.KIA even recommended R1 and my KIA dealer even installed them.Total cost was about 700 total for all of it--360 for the rotors and another 300 or so to install.BTW my last car--when I traded it in--the pads had close to 20k miles on them and were at 85%--so they were not wearing the pads out either.

Do you still have the R1 rotors and pads. I can’t seem to locate them on your site.

I am not ready just yet but I think it will be soon. Thanks for the heads up. Just for clarification, which model of brake discs and pads will you have?
