Anyone noticed this? Whenever the engine shuts off due to ISG, the moment it restarts my left headlight would blink on/off quickly. Have brought it into the dealership for them to check and they said it’s the same with another 2.0L. I expressed my concern further and they will check with Korea if this is normal.

All lights do this, the starter motor requires allot of energy to crank and engine. If your interior light was on you would notice that flickering too. If your sunroof was moving and your boot was self closing, they all pause why all the energy is given to the starter motor, then once the engine is running again the power is given back to all systems.

I wouldn't think that there is anything wrong, but you never know.

Have recorded the issue and the right headlamp and all LED lights remain on with no blinking, only the left headlamp alone goes on and off.

Interesting, but not something I'd be concerned about. Ask Kia. Personally, I don't care for the ISG. Although all starter motors these days use permanent magnets and very good brushes, I suppose they could wear out if your do a lot of start/stop driving over a long period of time. The startup is nearly instantaneous - just a nudge with the starter and it's running. Unless the stops are rather long (not just a stop sigh) then I don't think it would save much fuel, if any.

I remember my dealer telling me there is a TSB for blinking headlights for specific VINs, but mine was not impacted. I am not sure if that is the same issue you’re having.

Yes, it's a software update. I thought it was only for the GT2's with moving headlights. Mine was done during PDI. I haven't checked the lights at night using ISG.

Printed out the TSB regarding the software update for welcome lights but they didn’t receive any this side of the world. Have to wait till Korea comes back with whether it’s normal or not before they will do something.

Yes I noticed the same thing but I thought it was normal. I usually turn the ISG anyways.

I believe both, I’ll have to check tomorrow. I’ve usually turn ISG off
