I Have a 2020 stinger Gt2 and just recently my car kind of stalled out on me mid drive so i pulled into a parking lot nearby. I shut it off and tried turning it back on and it simply wouldnt crank anymore. I got the car towed back home and have been looking for all types of solutions but cant find any. I tried disconnecting the battery and letting it reset still no luck. When i try to start up the car it shows my check engine, oil, and battery lights. All electricals from radio, power seats and dash still work but my engine just wont crank i wont even hear my starter when trying to turn on the car. Any ideas or help on how to go about this issue?

Take your battery to auto zone. They can check it for free.

got it checked out they told me it was at 58 and that a simple charge/jump should work and it didnt work

Have them test with a new battery. The guys there are usually pretty chill. The battery is in the back and not that hard to swap out. Try swapping and if it resolves your issue, you're out a battery. :-)

But, if that is the case . . . you may want to test your Alternator as well. Cause if that's going . . . . prepare for about a 3K job to replace that alternator (They have to drop the whole damn engine and transmission.). And, if you do that, might as well do everything else you can while the engine is out. :-)

Take it to a dealership. Thats what they are there for.

Open your wallet and say ouch

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Hopefully still under warranty. Our 21 G70 3.3 just had the starter go out, similar sounding situation to yours, had to have it towed to dealer. It's a 7 to 10hr shop charge, luckily ours was covered under warranty, it would have been $1500 to $2000 otherwise :(

is it that fuse under hood that comes loose on some people?

I had similar, it was the battery in my immobiliser key fob( Pandora storm) . If you have aftermarket immobiliser, could it be that?

That's crazy, seems like you could get in there by removing the passenger side engine support. That's what they did to replace my starter as far as I know. At any rate sure hope my alternator plays nice for 100k more miles.

I posted another video of someone who replkaced their Alt without dropping engine.

It looks like with an engine hoist/bar, you can do it in like 3 hours.

That's more like it, still a PITA but not nearly as bad. Thanks for posting, I plan to keep my G70 for many years so I may need that one.

Of course this is absolutely ridiculous of Kia.

An alternator removal should be undo two bolts, unplug connector. Remove

A 5 minute job for an ameteur

Installation is reverse procedure

This is how it has been done for decades at auto electricians who would usually have a change over unit.

Furthermore the most likely failure is the voltage regulator itself which usually combines the brush set.

This should be removable on the alternator in situ like it is with many GM vehicles. I have done it myself.

But no, Kia sticks this inside the middle of the alternator requiring it to be removed.....then disassembled.

It seems Kia has gone down the "Porsche Path" where an entire engine has to be removed to fix anything hence any Porsche over 10 years old is "throw away"

With all the design expertise gone into this vehicle they must have given this bit to Mr Stupid.

All I can garner is that Kia has produced such a robust alternator that it performs like the ECU and outlasts the vehicle.

Just had my G70 starter fail and that's a 7hr shop charge. Luckily it was covered by warranty, it would have been almost $2k otherwise. And like you mentioned regarding an alternator also applies to all starters I've R&R'd, a simple 15 to 30 minute job, and that includes a couple runs to the fridge for beers, lol.

Car manufacturers have had decades to sort these things out and have.

Starter Motor, Alternator, Air conditioner compressor, thermostat, water pump should all be accessible and replaceable without ripping the engine out. That is just 10 hours of wasted labor and cost. The chance of busting everything else as well and not putting it back to factory standard

I have changed out starter motor, aircon compressor and alternator on various GM vehicles with ease.

Starting to wonder whether this was a good idea taking a new Stinger with a 7 year unlimited km warranty and capped price servicing for 7 years that I was going to keep after that. Now I have second thoughts

Just recently retired so I've got a bit more time to do things, but damn, not looking forward to that much time 👎🤯:eek:

Well I have gone the other path. I spent two decades home servicing vehicles from new with genuine parts and saved a fortune. I would spend in 5 years what would have cost one dealer service but I bought the Stinger for the 7 year unlimited km warranty. So for the cost of a yearly dealer service which is transparent with capped price servicing for 7 years its up to Kia to look after it. Provided I look after it.
