Anyone ever thought about color matching the fender vents?

Ive been debating on what i want to do with my fender vents. I have a premium so they are silver instead of the black chrome. (Im guessing to let the community know im slow) All joking aside there is not a ton of options to just grab and go. I do like the CF ones, and i like the look of the blackout. Ive found red and blue CF as well. Has anyone paint matched theirs? Or done something different?

^^My 2.0 is actually a 2.5 :)

Any car over #3000 is pig in my book. At #4000, more like a hippo.

Sorry, 2.5L. Yes they are heavy but you can still have a lot of fun with a Hippo! ;)

They really are quite good on the track but I admit, my R32 Skyline would have chewed my Stinger up and spat it out.

BUT, my stinger has more bells and whistles and safety etc AND F.D.S.... ( Fart Distribution System) aka ventillated seats.

Who takes their 4-cyl to the track?

Well the guy that took 3rd place yesterday at AutoX in the novice class, in a corolla, amazing driving.

In that class other 4cyls:

A Golf R, STI, Fiat/Miata, Mini (3cyl?).

Plenty of other 4cyls in the open and expert classes, including a Beetle...
Plenty of people take their 4 bangers to the track. I think he said "who takes their 4 cylinder Stinger to the track?"

Which I'd guess would be not very many people.

Went with gloss black in my case. I think if they were body colored it might take something away from the overall look. I do think the only options are gloss or flat black, or body colored. Anything else might be weird. Of course, red mirrors are just fine, LOL.IMG_1397.jpgIMG_1398.jpg

I have to say, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of paint matching the outer part and leaving the inner part black!

JSolo, sorry dude, didn't mean to pressure you on the track subject. Its entirely your call. I just love to hear when people do explore their cars limits and usually do so with a big smile.
No harm meant.

^^No worries. My biggest fear with tracking any vehicle is crashing. Great if you have another 'track' vehicle, not so great if you can't drive home from the track.

That and with age, my nerves are not what they used to be. Thinking back at all the stupid things done, both, on 2 and 4 wheels. I still like to take my corners at ~1.25 - 1.5x recommended speeds. Faster in familiar territory.

Familiar territory, yes: The other day, I took the recommended (yellow posted speed sign) 25 MPH curve onto the bridge below Storm Mountain at 50 MPH under acceleration: the bridge is one of the few double (passing) lanes: obviously the Model 3 Tesla wasn't objecting to me passing in 3rd gear, or if it did, it was too late. :D

Good looking ride ya got there! I do like the black on white without a doubt. Your mirrors, like the idea, i just dont think i could pull it off. Mad props! Ok back on track...my biggest issue is this, and hopefully this makes sense, ya know when your on a roller coaster going over a hill and every car looks the same? All of us have a vision for our cars and we try to stick to what we like. Problem is that a look starts to get embedded in our brains and sometimes there aren't a lot of options to deviate from said style.
I could continue with the CF habit, which is expensive. But the vent price is a lil hard to swallow. I could go black but then im in the same boat im not sure i want to be in. Wraps aren't bad, even the CF look, but usually they are black. CF is more brown to my eye so it doesn't flow as much. Ultimately, when the new wheels go on, i will have a better idea of where i want to go with things. Hell at that point the silver may be perfect for me.

I hear you loud and clear. I'm in the same boat ( and possibly age group ).

I just find when I'm having trouble keeping my foot off the floor, a track day is the fix. Then I can go back to Sydney traffic :poop:.

Look at a picture of your car and picture it in your mind. It seems to become more palatable. I'm seriously considering it now.
I'm not 100% on it yet but my current thought is this....when i bought my car and decided to go broke on CF i started looking at "one offs". Got kinda stupid price wise when you ask about building white CF pieces. Soooo my white cf print wrap will be in hand tomorrow and i may do the vents in that. Should be different enough from the paint to notice them but not make the vents disappear either. What i see in my head may not work in real life though.

And then theres your idea. Which i like, and could twist up a little.

So i figured id follow up on the discussion. My enabler, sorry wife, and i were talking more about the vents. She asked "why not just buy the real CF ones and quit trying to not do what you wanted originally?" Then i mentioned the cost....she didn't care but understood why i didn't want to pay.

Jump forward to Friday, and ive ordered some. Found a company that does overlays and is somewhat local (2hrs). He sourced new OEM vents for me and will be overlaying them so i didn't even have to send him mine. And then ride around all goofy looking while the work was being done.

Still like your idea of the color over black but i dont think in the end I'd be happy with it. One of those things thats "cool as hell on your car" but i cant see it for me. Hope that makes sense
