Any nerds floating around?

I tried water cooling my PC but it kind of messed up my pool. lol I was a tech junkie once but having kids kind of means I had to give up chasing the latest ad greatest gear. School fees are an absolute joy killer.

Built a PC about 4-5 yrs ago, only used it occasionally for gaming. Mostly used by the kids and as a PLEX server these days. Might upgrayyedd soon because ripping movies is taking longer and longer these days.

Love tech in general tho too. Have a couple of PS4s, a Switch, multiple iPads, a media room with projector and Atmos system (my personal gaming/movie nirvana), installed smart switches for the outdoor lighting and have them on a schedule, installed a DIY security system, you name it.

I'd love to tinker with the Stinger too, but I'm too afraid of screwing with the warranty.

Dude! I could have written nearly the exact same post. Plex is awesome, isn't it?

Oh man, i'm a happy lifetime PLEX PASS subscriber. I don't use as many of the perks as I used to, but PLEX is rock solid and works on everything.

I haven't water cooled for years. Danger Den was still around when I was modding. What's the latest custom stuff? Esp water blocks, who's the best ones out there now?

Not too sure best blocks ATM...they are all pretty close.

My 2080ti is waiting for me at the post office....still trying to chase down a block for it.

This is my his and hers gaming pc. The case holds two pcs in one.

Very nice, I was just discussing PC's etc with my colleagues this morning and told them that my current PC is the one I bought back in 2008. Someone took pity on me and said I could have their old PC as they were going to just throw it in the trash. lol So I guess I will have a new "old" PC tomorrow. lol Will be nice to have functioning USB ports again. lol

Bro....that's amazing. Well done!
I just completed all the complex bends in my loop and am leak testing until I get my 2080ti and block in it.

2080ti. Nice. Mine is a ryzen 2700x with a 1080ti at the top and hers is i7 4790k with a 1080ti on bottom. All the tubing, reservoirs, radiators, and water cooling hardware I got on aliexpress. Much cheaper!

I have so many components lieing around I could build you one from spare parts . Only thing missing would be a graphics card.

That's so cool man....I should do one like that next ... This build is a silent build. Loudest component is 8db

Thanks mate, appreciate the thought but my colleagues old PC will do for me these days. I really only use it for browsing, well that and image processing which admittedly does get a bit laborious due to the limited processing power I have. :)

Just got a 144hz monitor to go with my 1080ti and a pretty old i7 3930k running at 4.4. The processor might be old but it still rocks everything I throw at it.

My i5 3570k is just starting to bottleneck my shit at 5.2ghz

I stopped building pretty computers for myself around the time LAN parties stopped being a thing. My last gaming desktop was a Ryzen build sitting on a test bench. Sold the parts because my coworker wanted them and I rarely play anything anymore. :(

As for other nerdery, 1st job was a developer/designer working for a web host & ISP. I didn't know about savings or investments back then so I built a new gaming PC every 3 months or so and gave my hand-me-downs to my friends. Then I owned my own computer shop for several years. Now I'm a CTO, which isn't as fun as the shop but still nerdy I guess.

I reckon I would qualify as a nerd. Got my first computer in 1949 and have been working on them ever since. Electronics engineer primarily on process automation and control (robots). Started a computer business and sold it in 1989 and retired. For a hobby, I facet gemstones - rubies, sapphires, emeralds, etc. That seems like it should make the cut.
