Antigravity batteries.

I installed it on my stinger. My justification to myself was that they last for a very long time (7yrs+) and I will likely replace the battery 2-3 times during that period, so I will use it on my stinger and my next car. To make sure I can use it on my next car, I went with the smallest case size, you will only have to make a small bracket to make it fit. I have had the car off for 10 days at a time without a maintainer and it cranked perfectly, but I do suggest to have a maintainer on hand just incase you will travel for a longer time. It is built very well and is as light as they are claiming.

What is the weight distribution on the AWD 3.3, front to back?

The weight distribution? You're thinking power distribution. It would be a wild mechanical setup to shift weight by the press of a button.
Oops, your right! I mis-read it. Thanks

Bringing the old thread back. Finally pulled the trigger on the battery. After talking to rep at antigravity batteries and someone on this forum, who has one, decided to go with 40ah model. Weight saving is pretty substantial. (43lbs)20220122_144302.webp20220122_144326.webp20220122_213118.webp

Do you have a trickle charger or do you drive enough not to need it?

Let us know if you have any issues in cold weather. I looked into those a while back for a different car, but some days it gets sub-zero where I live in the winter, and I was worried about it not starting in such conditions.

Have you had any issues with cold weather? I live in the northeast and we get subzero temps (Was negative 8 degrees a month ago).
As a rule, lithium cannot be charged in sub freezing Temps without damaging them, so it's best if there are temp sensors that prevent charging below 32. This battery may have those integrated, I have no idea. The other thing to keep in mind comparing amp hour ratings, is that lead acid only last a long time if you only use 20 percent of their capacity. Whereas lithium can use all of its rated capacity without reduction in lifespan, so you don't need nearly as high reserve rating.

Thanks. I think that's a mod I'll have to wait a little while longer on. I think they are definitely worth it though when you're saving that much weight.

Curious what everyone's thoughts are on safety of a lithium-ion battery in a crash? The batteries in EVs are shielded pretty well to protect them from impact for good reason. The Stinger's 12V battery I suppose has some decent protection being down in the spare tire well, but what about other cars that have the battery in a more exposed location?

Never heard of that "problem". But i see some reports about Teslas bursting into flames.

So is the general consensus that Lithium batteries are good in cars ( yes I know they're expensive ) ?

My OEM battery often gives me a low battery warning due to the dashcam running all the time.
Was going to add a dedicated dash cam battery but then thought, why add even more weight...

So would a good lithium battery solve the issues ?

This is what I was thinking of..

Thoughts ?

Do not recommend it at all, you cannot recharge lithium batteries after they drain below a certain point. Having something that is continuously draining power when the car is off is one of the don'ts when it comes to having a lithium battery.

Antigravity does have a protection feature that will cut the battery when it is drained below a certain point to save the battery, but its not a point you always wan't to reach, its a safety feature.

My understanding is that Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries must only be charged by a charger that is designed for them, otherwise it will significantly reduce their life and could be a hazard. Unless the MegaLife batteries have a charger system built in, running them on a car not designed to charge them may be a problem.
The AntiGravity are more conventional Lithium Ion and I believe it has protection so they charge from conventional car charger systems.
