First 3 years on the original Pilot tires and no issues. Within first year of the firestone firehawks, replacing my second tire. Hit something sharp and uneven surface, did not look like a pothole , coming off a ramp! Thought my whole wheel was going to fall off. Watched my tire pressure as it dropped! It might all be coincidence, but I am not seeing the firehawks in the cars future LOL!!

My preferred tire brand will only be Michelin and Continental.

my tire and wheel guys do not recommend firestone they didn't give a definite reason why other than 'you get what you pay for with tires'. so I guess the firehawk indy 500 are good on new but don't hold up like a michelin will. @ChaneRZ nitto are good tires too. my tire and wheel guys sell a lot of them.

Thing is, they're less than a year old! TireRack reviews were pretty good and I asked about them in a stinger Facebook group. Oh well, it will be the first and last I guess??

I don't know. even though not recommended from the company I work through, Ima still not entirely put off the firestone firehawk indy 500 uhp. the price is very attractive. if I am burning through michelin ps4s in either side of 15,000 miles how could the firestone's not last that long? they might be a little outclassed in total grip but Ima no track guy and probably wouldn't push the firehawk indy 500 hard enough to tell the difference anyway. I may try them.

I'll chime in and say that I have had good experiences with the Indy 500s. I have run several sets on an e46 330ci and am on my second set of rears for the stinger, first set was done in about 20k miles.

I find the difference in grip insignificant vs price on the street, but certainly believe the Michelins are the superior tire. Just not by enough for me.

I wouldn't run either on the track for anything more than a first time or two at a track day.

Are people really only getting 15k out of the pilot sports?? That’s awful, my first stinger had the primacy tours, grip I’m sure isn’t as good at the limits but I see no difference in performance with the ps4’s on my new stinger. Definitely going back to the primacy tours as I got 50k+ out of both sets on my 20 GT AWD.

yes, Ima not that heavy on the corners either. I mean that yes the tires 'hiss' and I've done a four-wheel drift onto an onramp but just not that often. I wear the rears about twice as fast as the fronts, this is awd. my rears are worn down a lot by 15,000 miles and last time I was showing belts on the inside edges. this was after an alignment last year. when I asked my tire and wheel people about that they opined that the alignment had likely been according to kia spec and that next time I get aligned I should request a couple of degrees negative camber from spec to increase outside wear a bit.

I've already decided that the extra cost and faster wear of michelin is not worth it for the kind of driving I do. when these are done I am going all season probably nitto motivo and just run them year around.

Dang, it’s not the first time I’ve seen people say they get less than 15k out of them. I learned that the alignment on these is incredibly easy to get out of whack. I drive mostly on the freeway for work. I took off hard out of a driveway and spun all four tires, once….that was enough to throw my front alignment way out, my second set of tires I got about 48k only because the left front was bald on the inside corner, otherwise I’d have gotten another 5-10k out of them. I bought my GT2 with 6k miles, previous owner had hit a curb, the alignment was awful and wasn’t noticeable until 75+, I’m still battling after 3 alignments and only 10k miles, they cannot get it aligned, Les Schwab and Kia both say it’s in spec but it’s a wrestling match every time I drive it. Bummed as I had very little issues with my GT.

So, should I be seeing the TPS light while driving with the donut? Also, someone send me a pic of what the trunk should look like when they are done replacing my tire please!!!

yes the donut has no sensor, thus the tpms system is offline until you have four working sensors.

I got started with michelin tires back in 2008 or so on motorcycles. Michlelin pilot road series. They gave the best bang for buck in terms of performance and longevity (try replacing tires every 7-9K mi!!!). I went through probably a dozen sets between the different bikes over the years.

At present the current pilot sport AS4's are at 10K and wear appears to be good. We'll see how long they last. Rated to 45Kmi (square). If I get anywhere near that without any issues, I'll get the same tire next time around. At the rate im going, that's in about 6 years.

I had some sort of firehawk tire on the camaro way back when (with the goofy tread pattern). The tires were uninspiring. Of course they were on a 16" wheel in some wild size (245/50/16). That's just shy of 2" more sidewall than 245/40/18 these days.

Speaking of tires, does a full size spare fit into the trunk area with a still usable trunk?

stinger 'trunk'? good heavens no. the donut barely fits in there. if you insist on laying down a full-sized spare on the hatch floor just plan on less room for other stuff. I've put four wheels with tires mounted inside the hatch, without the hatch cover, and with back seats down, and I had room to devote to a couple of boxes and several bags of rock salt on that occasion.

Wish I would’ve seen this thread sooner I got the Nitto motivo’s my insurance cover the cost. I was told they were great because of the 60,000 mile warranty sales person, Also said I can try it out and if I didn’t like it I could return them like at discount tires…. These are the worst tires. I just finished ordering the Michelin pilot’s I wish I would’ve got them from the start… I have less than 100 miles on the current tires and I was told I drove them too much to do a return. You can still see the nippling I have never raced or push these tires hard Customer service was atrocious would not recommend this tires…

Nitto Motivo suck!

^^my mileage varies. nitto motivo a/s uhp are good tires. I've had them up to either side of 130 mph and they grip well too.

I’m happy for you dude but I just don’t see it…good luck getting help with their customer service…they tired everything to not do what they told me, once they saw I only had about 200 miles they were just like your tread it at 7… no your stuck with it… I’m cool getting new tires…to me the motivo’s are trash…

sounds more like a customer service beef than with the tires themselves. I've never dealt with nitto directly. big o prorated my motivos to discount the next set, because they wore quicker than the treadlife warranty allows. why are you dealing directly with nitto?

definitely the customer service sucks and I don’t care for them…but there’s just way too much vibration when I’m driving… I was told they needs to be a breaking Period…they are a lot a louder than my original Michelin Supremes…when I asked about stopping in the rain I was told just as good as Michelin… when I checked, they don’t compare and that’s per the service rep.

interesting. I've never heard such bs as that. no tire needs a breaking in period. wearing in isn't the same thing and there is no noise difference before and after. whoever put those tires on did a crap job and lied about it. the motivos I've been running have been smooth and at least as noise free as michelin ps4 ps4s.

This is actually from the customer service. They told me the tires have an oil coat put on them to keep them from rotting and as I drive oil base comes off… I even took them for a drive in the vehicle and I was given every excuse first they blame the car…4500 miles then they said I beat up on the tires the tires still have nipples on them… then they said it was the thread I used to much of the tire. Once again the nipples are still on the tire… I told them whatever at this point… if it was just me fine, but I had 4 People Driver the car… but like I said, I’m happy at least yours are good. I gotta go with my Gut I just don’t trust those tires myself…I ordered the PS4s just be mindful nitto has only been around I want to say late 90’s… which sounds like a long time, but compared to Michelin there’s just a huge gap but thanks again for your input
