Are there any phones that for sure work properly with Android Auto in a Stinger? I'm considering buying a new phone since my X4 doesn't seem to like AA but I don't want to waste money buying one that has the same (or similar) problems.

My galaxy note 9 has worked fine and i have not had any issue with in in the last 6 weeks i've had my stinger. My issue with the note 9 is that it just barely squeezes into the wireless charging pad though.

The phone doesn't matter so much as the version of Android you have installed on your phone. Google recommends Android 6.0 and up for best AA use.

Mine's version 9 and AA is basically unusable because of the constant disconnects.

I'm not looking for help diagnosing the issue, I've been going through all of that for months with different cables, old phones, deleting the phone from AA and the car, rebooting, reinstalling, etc. I'm looking for phones that 100% work.

So if yours works great, what phone do you have?

No issues at all with my Samsung Galaxy S10+. I had some issues with my S9 in a different car with AA. Not sure what the issue was, could never solve it honestly until I got a new phone.

Google Pixel 2 works great too. I only wish we had wireless android auto capabilities. It would make it that much more convenient.

A lot of people are reporting problems with that phone and AA so it's interesting that it works for you.
I mean, it forces me onto the AA screen on my phone when I first start the car up but it's smooth sailing afterward. I think I just got lucky hah.

I've used a LG V35, LG V40 (my wife's), Pixel 2, Pixel 3XL (my wife's), and a cheap $40 phone I got on Amazon for some unrelated experimenting.

I'm currently daily driving a Pixel 3. With the P3 I've used Andorid 9, Android 10 beta, and now Android 10.

I've had no issues with either.

Going back to my last car, which the Stinger's infotainment system is based on, I used a Pixel 2, Pixel 1, and LG G6. Also had no issues with those.

What were the older phones you tried to use? Were they running Android 6.0 or later?

I've always had Motorola phones and the last two were different versions of moto x. Before that was a Moto G5+. I haven't tried that one yet as it got wet and is not perfect to begin with. All of those are version 6 or higher.

If you've tried multiple cords and multiple phones all running 6.0 and higher I'd say the problem is with the car. Explain the issue to your service advisor and see if they'll replace the USB port.

Problem is I've had the same problem with a different vehicle (a rental GM SUV) with my current phone which brings it back to it being a problem unique to the phone, not the car.

Samsung A70 here, works great. My old Samsung A5 worked great as well.

Samsung galaxy A30 a continuous battle to keep android auto working, at my wits end.

A tip using AA.
If you have problem connecting the phone with AA, you probably would need to clear cache AND data in the app settings.
I had tons of problem with AA in my Seat Ateca and it worked only after clearing cache and data for AA on my phone.

Samsung Galaxy S9+, no issues here.

If you're having disconnect issues your USB port is messed up, your USB cable is damaged, or both

Google Pixel 2 XL, no issues for the past several months. I had disconnection issues for about a month last year but they went away with some combination of AA app update, Android OS update, Google Play Services update, etc.
