Android Auto changes almost ready for release

Hmm. Think my kid's older Android phone may be in need of a replacement sooner than I thought.

I got thinking the same thing with my trusty old rooted Galaxy S5 that I use for stuff like this.

As for AA, if through some electronic miracle they could adopt the "over Wifi" rather than plugging in the phone, I would actually use it regularly. I'm too lazy for it otherwise. For now, BT audio seems to work and sound good enough and that means the phone never leaves my pocket lol.

Android Auto supports connection over WiFi - but the head unit has to as well.

I was wondering recently if it mightn't be possible to run a USB WiFi dongle attached to the head-unit for this...

Will try the first one tomorrow or Monday on the stinger gt from Germany (we can use the the 7 taps in screensaver to install apps and open the Android setting)

some interesting new updates just announced here that amongst other positive changes look to bring the interface standard of AA more in line with that of APC having a more smart phone like home screen layout with the app icons:
