All Wheel Drive? Launch Control?

Honestly, it comes down to personal preference IMO ...

Test both and see how you like the driving dynamics .. granted the car salesmen won't be happy you're pushing the car to really feel the differences between AWD and RWD.

I would personally stick with the RWD - saves money, lighter (well I'm assuming it is because less components), less components is less complexity in a car that's already pretty heavy, and I like RWD.

If you're in a hairy situation in a RWD in the rain .. odds are, unfortunately, its your own fault. But I'm sure the RWD Stinger will be pretty capable in saving your behind. I kind of doubt the AWD will be significantly better in saving you .. unless you turned off all your nannies.

I live in the south so I really don't need AWD. Then again, it's nice for good "off the line" launches. What do you think? Worth it or not? I imagine more people up north will find the need for it. I wonder if the Stinger GT will have launch control.

The 2.0T has launch Control so i assume the GT also has it. I saw the video how to do it on Kia's youtube page and tried it myself. It does work.

Welcome aboard, @Verius! Thank you for signing up! :)

The 3.3L GT in both RWD and AWD have the same 0-60 times, and both have Launch Control.

The reason is the the AWD will have be better grip off the line, but the extra weight for the additional parts balance this out.

Depends on where you live. With 6 months of winter tires and excursions into the alps in winter, I will never buy anything without AWD again ... it's just too useful there. Even if i would jsut go there once per year I'd buy it, despite slightly higher fuel consumption.

As for launch control: Useless crap in any car, only useful for pretty numbers to throw around as a maker or village idiot. Will only destroy your gearbox etc in time.

If the Stinger was only available in RWD I wouldnt have bought it , it was the first box that had to be ticked in my purchase decision . All driven where we live and how we use our cars .

that's not a very nice thing to say about alot of people around here.

Yeah there's a few of us dinosaurs here on this website but were young at heart , that's why I got my sticker . Besides I could take three other dinosaur friends and give them a nice little ride as we all pass around the bottle of Geritol .

If you are not into drag racing, then I could see that stance on the launch control, but for those of us that do drag race, launch control is a nice added feature. If it didn't have it, I would have still bought it, but it's like getting a bonus gift at Christmastime :)

launch control would be awesome! but i think that's reserved for cars more expensive than the stinger gt will be. i'll be looking for the awd model.

As far as I know, all trim levels have launch control.

Tried out the launch control for the first time last night..needless to say, not real impressed with it. Not much difference from just mashing the pedal from a stop. I think if it was set at 3K instead of 2K it would be better.

My sales lady kept asking me to push it, lol i drove the awd and rwd, personally liked the rwd feel as well.

Launch control only shed.2 secpnds off i believe, so it isnt very noticeable to most people. Once you start modifying the car, they will have to figure out how to tune the awd so it doesnt send almost all of the power to the rear wheels. If they can do that then the awd mighy be worth it, as far LC goes at least.

Yea I never use LC on AWD rides. Just stage, and power brake to 2500 or whatever. Those Brembos will hold np.
