hey all I am looking to install Stinger badge across the back but it seems that the Kia emblem has a divit. How do you deal with that? The paint shop says to fill it in? What have you all done?

I just recently posted a thread on here about removing the kia badge from rear and replacing it with stinger across back. Someone replied to my post with a video on how to do it then blocked it so I couldn't reply. Again, read my question carefully: THERE IS A DIVOT IN UNDERNEATH THE KIA BADGE so I would have to fill the divot and then paint it then put badge on. I have a 2019 so maybe they changed that from the 2018's. Is anyone else having this issue?

This is the first i have heard about an indent under the new badge. What year month is your car. It may be a design change kia has done as previous models only had two holes under the old bad, no indent.

It would probably also help if you posted a picture since I’m your first post you said the badge has a divot but in the post your saying it’s under the badge.

I dont think so

I'm going to doubt that , some Kia's have the embossed oval for the badge but I really doubt the OP was referencing a Stinger unless he was trying to cause some shit

I think eflyguy locked your thread. Perhaps Moderators should provide a reason when a thread is locked.

I'm going to doubt that

I think it's a matter of semantics - divot = hole.

Explanation to the OP:
Fill the hole flush with clear silicon or epoxy. No paint required. Then position the Stinger script over it.
For the how-to find & look-up relevant threads. Good luck.

He locked it be because the topic has already been discussed about badge removal. John re started the thread again. Newbies often do this until they get familiar with search function.

Yes, I realise that. However the locked thread appeared to be a new discovery. I'm now tending to go with what moinmoin suggested.

No i pmd him and he said there is an oval indent when he took the badge off, no holes

Then in hindsight his original thread should not have been locked. Perhaps he needs encouragement to post more information in his latest thread.

I think the word indent may be misleading, I’m thinking more like recessed as Kia does on other models, but I highly doubt it for the Stinger as that back panel is plastic.

need a pic to confirm ...................

You might have been a little more clear in your original post.

I didn't post a video, I posted a link to the extensive thread where every aspect of badge removal/replacement has been discussed. Nobody here has reported an indent in the shape of the badge, you would certainly be the first.

A picture is definitely in order, also your build date (on the VIN plate) would be useful as well.

They’re in the middle of a production run and no other 2019 model has had this so without photo or video evidence I call BS. They’re not going to make a change to a body panel midway through a production year. Any changes won’t come until the 2020MY and I doubt even then they would change the design of the hatch lid where the badge sits, given Kia Korea don’t even produce them with a rear Kia badge, they come straight from the factory with the rear Stinger script.

You never know - they might have changed it just to spoil all the fun for those of us blessed with the awful "KIA" logo..

It certainly would suck if they did change it!

edit: or perhaps they see a $$ opportunity selling flat rear hatches to irritated foreigners?
